I applied to UOP for the Masters of Education and teacher credentialing program. I have already taught a number of years in another state, but needed to get recertified. I consider myself an intelligent person, but I do not have much software experience, and I told my advisor Frank Mazza this. I told him I bought a new computer and it had Microsoft Works instead of Word. He told me not to worry, that it would work just fine. He told me everything was fine and that the instructor would work with me on any problems I had. Well, the program would not work with Works, the supervisor refused to believe that Frank Mazza had told me this.

The instructor was so mad she told me I could not finish the course. I didn't have powerpoint, either, and he told me not to worry about it. Which was a lie. In the end, I wasn't even alowed to finish the course, I wasn't allowed to withdraw from it, so I owe the school 430.00 for nothing - and that doesn't include the 100.00 app. fee, the 36.00 book, paper, ink cartridges (I had to print out 225 pages) or my time.

Frank was extremely rude with me as soon as he had me signed up and in the class. The other person was right - he was like the worst kind of used car salesman, and I told him so. I had trusted him, and it was a terrible, costly mistake.

He told me UOP never gets any complaints or has problems with student satisfaction - I am so glad I found this website. I live in a remote area of Montana, too far from a physical university. But I plan to continue with WGU.

They have no complaints against them, are much cheaper, and very honest and upfront about everything. It does seem like the staff at UOP is very young and extremely rude. These same people would be fired for treating customers like this at McDonalds or Wal Mart. My experience with UOP is that it is a rip-off and a sham. I will cheer the day they go down, because it WILL happen! Thanks.

The 24 Hour Degree

#2Consumer Suggestion

Thu, May 06, 2004

It is nice to see that there are not too many other complaints about higher educational dilemmas continue with the University of Phoenix. There may be a whole lot of folks out there that feels that the UOP is not a real college, but I like checking the site to see what the new developments are.

To my satisfaction while pursuing my MBA from different reputable university I discovered that through all the hard work, sweat, and whining to get a UOP Bachelor Degree I welcome the burden of this reputable university's MBA assignments. At the UOP it was total painful effort to maintain my sanity dealing with all the knuckle heads that traveled in that direction with me.

However, I still would not have wanted the challenge any other way. I have come to understand with a lot of hard work follows the appreciation of learning and how to deal with people will always be troublesome. There I was at the university where I am now studying for a MBA and saw one of my UOP professors there. After researching the class schedules of other colleges, I found that this professor teaches at three different schools as a part time job.

Now how about that? I suppose that the claim of having Adjunct Faculty with good credentials must be some what correct. When I obtain a MBA and a Teaching Certification, I too will probably teach at the UOP and other colleges in the area.

If only as a living legion that a UOP degree is worth the treachery of the mental wounds I received and I will always challenge developing students to seek what ever means they can to obtain greater knowledge.

Now the Dean of College of Graduate Business & Management at the University of Phoenix has not yet changed his Luck statement. So, I suppose that Luck is the gamble of the draw when you select your alumni. Who am I to challenge? If a PhD says its Luck then maybe Luck it is.

So, I wish everyone good luck on your upcoming choices, but if you are smart enough to apply yourself towards betterment then a PhD from a world class university is only dollars away.

Maybe I will start a Lucky University and condense the classroom requirements by allowing students to take one 24 hour class per subject, charge thousands of dollars, and everyone could get a PhD in about three months. However, at the moment I suggest if anyone needs a degree fast, then challenge two or more classes at a time and pound on them while all your willfulness.
