This so-called school is a rip off. First they hound you to death to get you enrolled, then after they get you hooked, the advisors abandon you.

I took four classes. The first one was okay, pretty good instructor, The second one was totally useless, as I did not learn anything what so ever, but did find out alot about my team members boring lives during the discussions. Still, I thought, I've committed to this program so I'll stick it out and see if it gets better. I did all the work, led every team I was on, participated in the discussions, and still did not learn a thing that I didn't already know. The third class was a joke. I didnt' even buy a book and I passed with an A.

By the fourth class I had had enough and withdrew. My GPA was 3.9, I was in debt for $4000 and have nothing, not even transferrable credits to show for it. I had entered this program hoping to learn something, as I was starting from scratch with no college experience, I thought, I should have gained even a tiny bit of knowledge, but unfortunately, that didn't happen.

In one of the rebuttals, someone from the school mentioned that corporations pay for their employees to attend the "school". He means tuition reimbursement. My job did kick in 75%, but not because the school is so great, as that guy Brandon said, but because the school is accredited, and that is the basic requirement that my job has for eligibility in tuition assistance.

When I withdrew, almost a year ago, the counselors then decided to contact me. I never got so many calls, emails, and messages before in my life. They still contact me from time to time to try to get me back in. I wouldn't waste another second of my time on this school if they paid me.

My advice to anyone thinking of going to this school-you'd be better off at a local community college.

UoP- You will work.....school is not easy street folks

I found this site while looking for the email protocols for UoP. I am in the MBA program at UoP and have experienced many frustrations with this school including similar scenarios dealing with class refunds and difficult facilitators. I can honestly say that the UoP is no different in frustration than attending a large state university.

State universities won't even consider refunding monies if you are in a class where the professor is difficult or you have attended beyond a certain specified date! UoP is the same way. If you have legitimate proof of posts, difficulties with the facilitator, there is a formal grievances procedure that you must go thru just like with any university.

The formal grievances procedures are very difficult with any University and I actually found UoP's easier than most to file and pursue a grievance to resolution. I did receive a refund for a class I attended for a week. I believe people go off half cocked if they don't get an instant response!

Word of warning! You will bust your furry little butt at this university to get that degree! No matter which one it is! The facilitators are there to guide NOT to teach. People who are self motivating and require little hand holding will do really well in this type of learning medium. Perfectionist's beware!

Do not get trapped into work and school! It is easy to do unless you let go of your previous time constraints and old fashioned classroom learning styles. The teams will drain you if you do not put your foot down and demand participation from everyone! There are ways to get people to participate so you do not have to do ALL the work as some of these other rip-off posts on here imply.

The best ways to handle teammates that do not participate are to email them directly or better yet call but also email all correspondence to the facilitator. They do grade based on participation! The team will not give you a bad grade unless it is the grade you earned based on performance and team participation. The main classroom is where students can apply the concepts they learn to real life situations.

Better yet, a large spread of employment situations which is even better! If you have a well of knowledge you can do just about anything! Not to mention difficulties with teams are no different at Emory, Harvard, Cambridge, University of Cincinnati, Florida Atlantic University, and University of Florida's MBA programs!!! I have friends that have all the same complaints I do about teamwork the UoP is no different!

University of Phoenix is for profit just like any other private school so they conduct themselves as such. Public Universities are so big that people fall thru the cracks and the guidance counselors miscalculate your requirements for graduation! The UOP guidance counselors are people who change frequently but at least they are well trained, will find out the answers promptly if they do not know off hand, and know the schedule guidelines for graduation for the basic program. Perhaps they review it before they call me I don't know, either way it is good.

So, if you are someone who gets discouraged easily, can't relax, can't walk away from something, and don't want to work your butt off for a degree then this university is not for you! If you are willing to work hard, have good writing skills, are willing to improve your writing skills, and want to experience life and not simply theory with your education this is for you. I can say honestly that you will spend at least 4 hours a day if you are a slow read and some classes are much harder than others despite the same formatting so start early to gage your pace so you don't get overwhelmed. There is a lot to learn in this style of learning more than simply what is in a BOOK!

Each class is around 20 people now which is much better than the 12 from before asa it makes the teams larger. Not to mention more experience in practical application! Ah I nearly forgot! This school is ACCREDITED by the same people who accredit Florida state, university of Florida, Florida Atlantic university, as well as Barry university and the university of Miami. And the credits transfer to Emory University in Georgia as I have friends who moonlight to the UoP to take more classes when Emory doesn't have the offering! So I can't say much bad about the UoP other than it is hard, you must be motivated or you will QUIT because there is nothing keeping you there EXCEPT for you!
