University Of Phoenix Ripoff, Even the University doesn't accept it's own credits; refuses information Phoenix Arizona

Other people have posted complaints in this forum regarding the University of Phoenix, mostly about the online campus. I attended classroom-based classes in Colorado before moving to Boise. When I moved, I made several requests to the school admission counselors for a list of classes that I could take to finish my degree. I had completed the 'core' classes, and only needed a few electives. The counsellors either ignored my requests or supplied only the names of the fields from which I could select the needed classes. After countless attempts to complete my degree, the school expanded into the Boise area and contacted me about re-admission.

Naturally, I wanted to finish my degree, and with only 14 or 15 credits needed, it should have been an easy thing to do. I was therefore quite shocked to hear that the credits I had earned were no longer part of the school's program. They actually told me that I would have to re-take 50 or 60 credits. Their excuse was that it had been too long since I started the program. My rebuttal is that they are to blame for not responding to my request for information when I asked.

Recently, I've learned that most employers don't consider the UoP program to be valuable or valid education, despite the school's accreditation. That charge is easy to believe, since the school itself refuses to accept its own credits!

Of Course I asked for another opinion

I got a second, third, fourth, fith opinion, and probably more... Every time I actually found someone at the school who would return a call, they told me the same thing - there was 'no way' they would require 50 credits to be done over. They promised to get everything fixed for me and call back, but guess what? They never did call back!!!! When they opened a local campus, I talked to counsellors there, and they kept telling me that they had changed the course requirements for the BSBA and I would have to take 50-60 additional core credits.

I am being completely honest here. I understand why an academic counselor would express the opinion you put forth, but I think you need to understand that the University of Phoenix is not so much an academic institution as they are a money machine.

Did you ask them why?

I recommend you look at why you can't finish that program. Chances are you were either out for over a year, or you are looking at a location which doesn't offer your program. 50 credits is a bit too much. As a former academic counselor, that is basically impossible. YOu'd have to change from business to criminal justice for that to happen... I just don't think you are being honest here, or someone isn't give you all of your options. Call another campus and just ask for a pre-eval for reentry. Look at www.phoenix.edu and click on locations> just call and ask... Get a second opinion.
