UnlockUnit.com A fraudlent company using an Android Application to steal $  Bacau, Romania Internet

I contacted UnlockUnit.com and purchased a "SIM Unlock Code" from them on 10/10/2013.  The code I purchased was guaranteed to be received within 3 hours of purchase - it did not come.  Upon contacting Customer Care, I was referred to the Terms and Conditions multiple times, and told a refund would not be possible.

The problem - this is an Android Application.  The application grabs the IMEI number from the phone on which it is installed and does NOT prompt the customer to enter the IMEI number.  The application cannot be installed on a SIM Locked phone.  Therefore each customer will be told they have entered an incorrect IMEI number, and NOT given a refund.

I was guaranteed to receive my "SIM Unlock Code" within 1-3 hours of purchase on 10/10/10, which meant by 4:00AM CST. At 3:38 PM, I contacted UnlockUnit technical support to report that I still had no received the code.  I spoke with "Nancy." Nancy told me that the IMEI code had been sent to Samsung, and I would be notified once it was received.  This is the first I was aware that an IMEI code was needed - and when I discovered the application grabs the IMEI code from the phone it is installed on and does NOT prompt for a correct IMEI.  I responded to her with my newfound knowledge.  "Fred" then directed me to the Terms and Conditions and said I was NOT elligble for a refund.

The key here is I did NOT provide UnlockUnit.com with the incorrect IMEI code - their application grabbed the wrong code automatically.

I apologize for getting the company name/URL incorrect a few times. The correct name is UnlockUnit.com.

After threatening to file a complaint (which I did) with IC3 (FBI Cyber Crime), RipOffReport, etc. The company has stepped down from its argument and FULLY REFUNDED my money. :)
