Went to lunch there today. This time we ate there. I have worked next to this Unos for 8 years!! Mind you the place has only been since 2001, or there abouts!! Order this lunch before. Husband and I ordered the lunch fish and chips. Menu item description from menu and website:

FISH & CHIPS
A batter-dipped fillet of haddock, deep-fried and served with french fries, coleslaw and red pepper tartar sauce.

As in the past (say about mid last month) when I order the lunch fish and chips it has been a WHOLE batter-dipped fillet. Well this time it was a half!! To be exact it was my husband's other half of fish!! I couldn't believe it for $6.79 I only got half a piece of fish. The waiter told me "it's always been that way, since I've worked here for over one year". I worked next to the place for 8 years. He went on to say that I could have the other half for $1.00 more. I ask to speak with a manager. She tell me "it's been that way since I worked here about 4 years". I worked next to the place for 8 YEARS!!! She insulted my intelligence by tell me: "maybe I order the dinner size at lunch"--NO.; or "maybe I paid the extra $1.00, but I can get the other half for $1.00 extra"-NO!! She did give me another half. We paid for our meal and left. It's always something with that d**n Uno's. I figure if I don't go for a six-month period they would improve--NOT!! Will not go there ever again and will spread the word like fire on gasoline!!!!!

To John from Georgie: I have worked in the building next to the building that now Uno's opened in 2001. Maybe that's how I should have gone into details about working in the building for 8 years. It was vacant when I starting working there and the end of 1999 until Uno's opened I was and remaining working in the building next to Uno's since Uno's opened in 2001. So I have experience the menu changes.

To Jaime - Enfield, Europe: See my response to John about my not taking the time to further explain the 8 years. Some clarification on the "1 month/6 months"--1 month I meant to say mid-last year was how long it has been since I had that lunch item which I order over the phone pick up by walking downstairs and next door to pick up and take back to my office conference room to have my lunch. The 6 months refers to me waiting about 6 months from mid-last year to again have that lunch, this time ordering and eating a the place instead of taking back to my office conference room.

To further respond to your rebuttal: 1) I did hear from the "headquarters" and was told yes the portion for lunch was a whole fillet but people complained it was too big a portion for lunch so they decided to give only half a portion. 2) Giving me was I expected was exactly what should/did happen and I am satisfied with that 3)No matter of discount or coupons was needed or expected on my part and I would not have taken them as I do plan NEVER to visit the place again. 4)When I returned home, I most certaintly did finish my remaining portion and the additional half portion because THE OTHER HALF WAS WHAT I EXPECTED!!

I filed this report to let anyone know, if the menu item means what it says then the food item should ALWAYS reflect it. Had the menu item stated "half a batter fillet...." I would have ordered it knowing half was coming. Thank you for noticing my mistakes and should I need to report another ripoffreport I will make sure to include ALL details.

A Mistake in Your Complaint

Hello. I noticed that you had a mistake in your complaint. You said that you ate at Uno's a month ago, yet you also state that you have not been there for 6 months. Which is it? Perhaps, also, when you ordered the fish and chips before, someone gave you a dinner sized portion instead of the lunch size? Perhaps it was a new employee who did not know the rules?

Either way, why would they LIE to you in the first place? I work in customer services and have doen FOR 8 YEARS (sorry, couldn't help it) and I have never outright LIED to a customer. If they are right and I am wrong, I apologize and fix it. I see no reason why 2 employees would lie about the same thing. You would probably say "because they screwed up" but I am sure if they did, especially the manager, they would have admitted it. The fact that they gave you the extra half (which is not part of the lunch sized portion) for free is a sign of good.

You complained, were told that something has always been the same way for 4 years and that perhaps you had gotten the wrong portion before, you got your extra half of haddock for free and yet, you are still not happy.

Did you finish the entire piece of fish?

Also, there is that problem with the "1 month ago/ 6 months".

Would love to know what were you expecting to get out of all of this? Coupons? So you could eat there again? Ha!
