If it seems too good to be true, it is!

Received a check for 4,998 and notification of winning sweepstakes lottery. I contacted the bank which was on the check and they confirmed that indeed the money was in the account and it seems the check is valid.

I called the number as requested in the letter and was told as soon as the check clears I should send them half the amount of the check for tax deductions and they would then release the entire amount that I had won (of course an outlandish $125,000),

Upon further investigation (on the internet) I learned that the check will take two months to be declared as a scam. Meanwhile, you will have sent the scam artist 2,500 to cover the so called taxes. This will be deducted from you account and the bank will tell you eventually that the check really never was valid. Opps, you made a huge mistake.

Please heed this advice.
