I deposited a payroll check at a US Bank Branch in Hilliard Ohio on Monday September 30th. It is Friday October 4th and the funds are still not available.

I went to the US Bank Branch and was told that all of the money was not yet available, and I could not access my account even though it showed a positive balance.

I enquired about when my funds would be available and was told I would just have to wait until all of the money cleared.

In other words I am at their mercy until they decide to stop floating my money around in cyber land.

I had never heard of a place telling you what to do with your money.

#3UPDATE Employee

I am an employee of us bank. the bank purchased the mortgage company I work for, a year ago. When they took over firstar in Cleveland. The first thing they did, was told us either you get an account with us, or your check will be mailed home. I had never heard of a place telling you what to do with your money.

I foolishly opened a account and also made deposits and had checks bouncing left and right, that was one the problems, they are slow at processing, and have the worse customer service. They had the nerve to get a attitude, when I called them to fix my account, and credit me my money back.

Since US bank took over the company I work for, they cut off our bonus, and me and half of the people that work here, either did not get a raise or got two percent. This is the cheapest and sneakiest bank I have ever seen. So I say all that to say this, if they treat their own employees like this , what do you think they are going to do to non-employees????

This must be a wide spread problem.

#3Consumer Suggestion

Mon, February 24, 2003

My Mom has been banking with the same bank for 10 years, which after changing hands numerous times, became US Bank. She has also been charged overdrafts for checks that were written out after the deposit was made.

She finally discovered that they wouldn't make the funds available to her until the check cleared with the bank which her paycheck was made from. They wouldn't even cash her checks, she had to deposit it.

They have managed to pocket quite a bit of money off of her and she is now going through the headache of closing her account with them. She has to call her insurance company and all the other places that she set up to electronically withdrawal her bills from her account, otherwise when it came in, it would automatically reopen her account. They are a joke as far as being a bank is concerned. I have heard other people in my area say quite a few negative things about them too.

My suggestion to you and all the other that read this with a complaint about US Bank to call their states banking association and file a complaint with them. They oversee all the banks in your state. A friend of mine had problems with a different bank that tried to sue him for closing costs on a loan that he didn't even get approved for. He called them and told them the whole story and they got the "lawsuit" dropped. It's just a suggestion and I hope it helps you out.
