I have had an account with US Bank for 18 months,

I made a deposit by ATM on Friday 8/8/08 in the amount of 1, 100. The weekend came and went and I made my daily purchases at the local gas station. Well, Tuesday 8/12/08 night I get home from school and check my account. SIX ODs on the account, $210 in total. Whoa I said. I called the 1-800 # and talked to a very nice female named Kristy. Kristy stated that I have never went neg, nor had any problems with my account. She stated that she saw no reason why I could not get these charges refunded. Kristy was not able to do this for me at the time since it was almost midnight. She stated that she would note the account and I could call the branch the next morning and get it taken care of.

HAHA, the next day 8/13/08 I do just that. Well, Amiee, the horrible branch manager is in a meeting and must call me back. Finally, Amiee calls, she states that it is MY FAULT that the account has the fees and I can only get a refund of $8.00 YES, EIGHT DOLLARS. I asked her about the notes on the account from the conversation the night before. "The notes did not say you could get a refund, and anyway we decide who gets refunds, not the customer service number!"

Now at this point I'm pissed! Amiee goes on the say, "you want me to refund $210 so you can what, go spend more money at Rally's?"

I made the deposit Friday at the ATM, never did my balance go neg. She stated that the deposit was NOT cleared until Tuesday, even though, last time I checked, banks operate on Saturday, and Monday. They could clearly see that 1, 100 was in the account and they still charged me this.

I then asked Amiee who I could talk to so I could complain about her. She stated that I could talk to her boss and that she would call me back when she was done...

US Bank is a joke, they will empty your pockets, taking everything you have for bogus fees.

5 Star Customer Service guaranteed.. HAHA this company should be ashamed of itself!!!

8/13/08 UPDATE* I just spoke to another guy from the 1800, he stated that since the branch said they were not going to do anything, he is not going to do anything. Again, he had a cocky attitude just like everyone else that I have spoken to. These people should be fired and this bank shut down. I'll be making a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, this type of treatment is uncalled for!

Also, the lady that was supposed to call me back never did. It's 3:20 in the afternoon and I'm sure I wont hear from her. Again, great customer service skills. I think they get the employees from prisions!

Not All Deposits Are Immediately Available

Like the other poster noted, you may have made the deposit after business hours Friday resulting in it posting to your account Tuesday. Yes, many banks do have weekend hours, but this is the bank, not the Federal Reserve. The banks can essentially start the transaction, but until the Federal Reserve is open for business, the transaction will not be complete. It is quite common for Friday activity to not be reported until Tuesday.

Review your bank agreement regarding availability of funds. This is not a rip off, rather bad timing on your part. In the future, go into the bank (if you can make it there during business hours), make the deposit with the teller and ask her/him what you're available balance is and how much cash you can immediately withdrawl.

I think this is what's going on.

I could be wrong, but from your story, I think you might've gotten to the ATM to make your deposit after 6pm in your time zone. That's the cut off point for ATM deposits. So, that would mean your deposit counted as Monday's business, clearing on Tuesday. That would mean there was some sort of negative balance on Monday (I know you said otherwise) and thus imposing fees on Tuesday.
