Us Energy Savings Scam artists at it again New York New York
A young man came to my door today with a bright smile and a pleasant handshake. He seemed genuine at first with his business shirt and binder full of paperwork. But I was wrong to judge a book by its cover.
I was wrong to assume he actually worked for my electric company when he asked me for my electric bill to make sure their logo was in place. Little did i know that he knew the logo wasnt there but intended to put it there.
After a short discussion and no answered questions I foolishly signed the contract, naive as I am. Another man appeared as he had no luck suckering in my neighbors and also tried to reasure me with a bright smile. Seeming as how they had no phones of their own (strange...) they needed to use mine.
After a short conversation on the phone with yet another man i was successfully pulled into their scam. The departed happily having thought they were getting my money. But I am not so easily duped as i thought.
I quickly got on my computer and researched the company, finding out what i feared. They had been scamming in my area for weeks and had clowned a good many people. I successfully filled out my cancellation notice and am happy that i will get it in in time.
I can only hope that my efforts to warn others of their scheme do not go unheard. Let this be a lesson to me and all of you... dont welcome strangers to your door.
