HOPE  Helping Our Pockets Everyday

What a joke it was working for this company. I can't call it an insurance company because legally they can't even call their product "insurance". However, they train the agents to tell their prospective customers that they are enrolling in a Cigna PPO plan which is the furthest thing from the truth. Cigna is simply the provider network they use. They also tell the customers that it's a $0 deductible plan with a $3,000 max out of pocket but they fail to mention that it's a limited benefit health plan that doesn't cover pre-existing conditions and in order to utilize the out of pocket max you need to upgrade your plan to a different one with a highly inflated premium that is never discussed when you enroll. We were also trained to avoid the subject of a tax penalty that will be incurred for not having a qualified health plan. This penalty is still in effect for 2018. I didn't last long at this company simply because I was already licensed when I started and quickly realized they were scamming customers with complete disregard of the general public.

Their ideal agent is someone with no insurance experience and usually an individual with limited education and desparate for money. The majority of their managers barely have a highschool diploma and the few with college degrees have little or no work experience other than with USHA. Everyone is considered a 1099 subcontactor even though they slave drive you as if you were an employee. The company would never survive with W-2 employees because every typical HR infraction is violated to the extreme from drug use to sexual harassment. The company would lose at least half of its workforce if they had random drug screening. They try to impress newcomers by bragging about a so called Stevie Award that apparently the company wins from time to time however after researching the award, which has only been around since 2002, it's an award that you nominate your own company for and no other real insurance companies even participate in it. Heck, I even have a World's Greatest Mom coffee cup. Impressive isn't it.

Here's some other little known awards this company has accomplished: The company with the most suicides in the past five years, The company with the most drunk driving accidents, The company with the most divorces, The company with the most children in drug rehab, The company with the most families in therapy. What can you really expect to happen to the children though when you're not expected to have a life outside of work? When you neglect children of your much needed time, love, and affection how do you really expect them to turn out? How many USHA children are being raised by nannies, babysitters, or grandparents? Even some newborns are being abandoned too soon. There are some real success stories from this company though. A former addict that actually married their drug dealer found success with USHA. So I guess every cloud really does have a silver lining. I just feel bad for the kids. What's really sad is that everything written in this post is 100% true and anyone from that company that reads this knows it too. None of them however has the integrity to do something about it.

US Health Curse Strikes Again!!

I would certainly be on high alert if I were involved with this company. Karma is certainly taking it's toll with the individuals that work here. I have never seen a company where there have been so many deaths, suicides, terminal illnesses, and other tragedies.

Funny thing it seems that the higher up you are in the company the more tragic the event bestowed. I'm not sure how any of them are able to look at themselves in a mirror knowing their careers rely on lies and deception. I wonder who the Grim Reaper has on their list next in the US Health Family?

Going to have to agree with Rick on this one

This company does in fact hire and "train" a continuous stream of new recruits every week. You are encouraged to NEVER mention Freedom Life and repeatedly say Cigna PPO, NO Deductible, NO Copays. Oh, and by the way, don't mention that the prescription plan sucks and no preventative is covered. This is deceptive because it leads people to think that they will pay their premiums and everything else will be covered...quite the opposite! Myself and my clients would have welcomed a nice predictable copay after having absolutely nothing covered (Yes, I was brainwashed enough to put myself on this plan for a few months).

There is NO max out of pocket unless you choose to use your once in a lifetime Premier upgrade. Otherwise, who knows how much they'll cover or how much you'll owe each year.

Yes, you can upgrade to Premier Med and have something catastrophic covered at 100%, but your premiums are going to increase substantially and you will be kicked off the plan when Open Enrollment for an Obamacare plan rolls around. If this is such a good deal, why is there NO transparency with this company?! Our clients had no idea what they were getting! The company I work for now allows me to sleep at night and pay the bills. I was naive and had never worked in insurance and was told this was the only option besides Obamacare, Short Term, or Discount plans...thank gosh I met someone who sat down and compared another indemnity plans benefits with me. I remember thinking "now THIS looks like real insurance!"

Yes, it can work as a purely catastrophic plan with a discount plan attached, but to be encouraged to pedal it as anything but is a misrepresentation of the product. Not every event is catastrophic, but that doesn't mean that your insurance shouldn't cover it (take an appendectomy for example).

As far as the work environment...it is toxic. You are constantly called out, publicly humiliated, and talked about behind your back by management. You are told at the pitch that you will make your own schedule, but as soon as you bust your a*s and pass the test the tune changes and you are expected to be there all day everyday. They have you waste your money buying numerous states and will tell you the only way to do well is to dial, dial, dial and annoy the hell out of people. It isn't the way they make money though...if you work for this company pay attention at the Friday meeting and notice that none of the people making consistent money are touching Velocify. I won't make any comment as to the personal jabs Rick made, but I will say some of them are true and I'm sure Rick was VERY angry when he wrote it as I was when I left.

Not Insurance

You say in your rebuttal that your client enjoyed lower insurance rates with Freedom however isn't it a fact that the product is NOT Health Insurance and you can't even legally call it INSURANCE? I bet my life that you don't tell your prospects that the product you're selling them isn't really insurance do you? Of course you don't otherwise your sales would be quite bleak. It's a total scam and God has a special place for agents like you.

Your blanket statements about the types of people working for USHEALTH and Freedom Life, the products they sell and their sales tactics are dishonest and untrue.  You clearly do not know everything about this company and your outlandish commentary is a bit frightening, which I'm sure was intentional.

I have been licensed and appointed agent with them for over two years having sold health insurance products for the last 31 years.  I have seen a LOT of different health plans and even left the business to sell Medicare products for six years before I chose to come back to the private health insurance business.  Out of frustration and anger at how the ACA nearly ruined the private healthcare industry, I chose to contract with this company because I investigated, learned and admired what exactly USHEALTH brings to the market.

I know of two personal acquantances who have their plans with USHEALTH. One of them showed me how well their coverage worked for them when bad things started to happen for them.  After two surgeries, several rounds of chemo and radiation, their 5 y.o. daughter is surviving bone cancer.  Yet, their health plan was able to be upgraded to the appropriate level of coverage when they needed it the most. They paid only the rate increase that they expected.  For the three years prior to her diagnosis, they enjoyed substantially lower rates of insurance with NO ANNUAL DEDUCTIBLE to satisfy.  When they got the bad news, they were able to wait and allow the claims to come in before deciding which plan was best for them to move to.  If they need to in the future, they can move to the catastrophic plan level with a $4000 deductible and 100% coverage for everything else.  That's what is so amazing about the plan.  They are also recieving direct cash benefits from their covearage that gives them enough to money pay for the rate inrease and deductible (if they need it).

I think you were a bit frightneed by something you had no knowledge of or experienced before and you ran before you could understand it.

This company is growing by leaps and bounds and has more than 17 million Americans as customers as of this 2017.  Feel free to check the financial reports on Freedom Life Insurance Co/ USHEALTH if you like.  They are rated high by A.M Best, Moody's, Duff and Phelps and even the BBB rates them an A+.  Go to the State of Texas Dept of Commerce page and review their annual report card on them. You will see very few complaints (none so far this year 2018) against them.  https://apps.tdi.state.tx.us/pcci/pcci_show_profile.jsp?tdiNum=19830

Thanks for you time!
