US Investigations Services Inc, the largest background investigations/screening company in the us, is engages in fraud when it comes to their employees. i have met several other hardworking, honest investigators who have lost their jobs due to false accusations from clients.

the premise of the job of a USIS investigator is to basically interview employers, neighbors, friends, etc to see if an applicant can get a security clearance. the company later on asks these sources if they remember talking to you. if they don't remember talking to you, whether in person or on the phone, you'll get fired for 'falsification of a report.'

sometimes a source you interview forgets or withholds important information from you. so USIS checks up on these people. in turn, these people get intimidated and tell the company everything they didn't tell you. so USIS assumes you falsified information. so they fire you.

USIS will not stick up for its employees. they will take the word from someone on the street over an employee. they do not investigate fraud claims against their employees but rather base everything on assumption and suspecion.

they will fire you for something you didn't do a year or two ago and then expect you to defend yourself when you have no means to. they will convince your department of labor that you engaged in fraudulant behavior and so that you cannot recieve unemployment benefits. they screw you over twice.

USIS is a ripoff organization and i strongly encourage those who are in the background investigator field to pursue employment with a more repectable company (i.e. mantech or aerotech). Never have i seen so many employees complain about this company and their fraudulent engagements and unfair treatment and disrepesct of employees.

Boy, Joe, seems like you sure have kept yourself busy. What if the other person didn't want to be taped? Is this supposed to be with or without their knowledge and consent?

I LEARNED A LONG TIME AGO TO COVER MY OWN SELF BY VIDEO TAPING OR AUDIO TAPING EVERY INTERVIEW I EVER DID AND DUPLICATING IT. IN CASE THERE WAS A QUESTION IN COURT AND I WAS LICENSED TO PRACTICE IN TEXAS BEFORE I LET MY PRIVATE INVESTIGATION LICENSE LAPSE.

YOU ALL MIGHT WANT TO DO THAT FROM NOW ON.

IF YOU HAD THIS EVIDENCE, YOU COULD TURN AROUND AND SUE THIS GUY BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE TO ME HE WANTS A WHOLE LOT OF FREE WORK AND TO GET YOUR GUYS TO LOSE YOUR LICENSES SO YOU CAN'T DO A CLASS ACTION AGAINST HIS CHEATING YOU OUT OF YOUR PAY !

WE HAVE A LOT OF SCUMBAGS LIKE HIM IN TEXAS.

IN FACT, OUR ENTIRE PRIVATE SECURITY COMPANY INDUSTRY NEEDS TO BE NATIONALIZED...

AND HOW DO YOU HAVE PROOF THE PEOPLE SAID THE THINGS HE SAYS THAT THEY SAID.

THIS GUY IS A LIAR.

WHAT IN THE HELL EVER CONVINCED YOU THAT HE WAS A MAN OF HIS WORD?

HE HAS A PRIVATE SECURITY COMPANY AND HE HAS PEOPLE HE SUBCONTRACTS WORK TO WHOM HE TRIES TO SCREW OUT OF THEIR PAY.

THIS IS WHY YOU HAVE A NOTEBOOK AND KEEP AN EXACT NOTATION OF THE HOURS THAT YOU WORK. THIS IS WHY YOU TAKE NOTES OF WHAT YOU DO EVERY DAY BECAUSE THESE WILL STAND UP IN COURT.

FIELD NOTES WILL ALSO STAND UP IN COURT. IF YOU HAVEN'T LOST YOUR LICENSES AS A PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR, YOU WILL NEED TO LEARN HOW TO TAKE FIELD NOTES.

DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT!

I was terminated 8/13/2008. The reason giving was failing to meet my performance goals. I had been put on a PIP. On the last day of transmittion for the June reporting period, I had computer problems. I could not transmit my reports until the following week which fell into the July reporting period. The District Manager would not extrapiolate the the reports into the June reporting period. Instead he extended the PIP. I figured they were trying to fire me. I had already expressed my opinion about the unapproved investigative tools they were using for the OPM contract. I figured it was only a matter of time. I was told not to worry that I already had 300 MOC for the July reporting period because of the computer problem. I was told in August when I was terminated that I did not reach my performance goals and was terminated. The only way I could not have reached my goal would have been if they subtracted my reports intended for the June reporting period. I received no credit for work I had performed.

To make matters worse, when I filed for unemployment I was denied unemployment compensation. They claimed I had violated company policy, making me ineligible for unemployment. Their false claim created a serious economic hardship. I appealed to the Department of Labor. After two an a half months of receiving no unemployment the referee overturned the disqualificaton. The company retained to file the false claim didn't even show for the hearing by the referee.

Always appeal your termination under these circumstances.

I agree. USIS care for nothing and no one except the almighty dollar. I have been bullied, threatened, harassed, etc. This company owes their employees more than what they give us...which is absolutely nothing! Investigators who have worked and dedicated themselves to this company is being let go with no thought or care and I am tired of it!!! I might go down but not without a fight and I will take down USIS with me.

Termination problems are only the tip of the ice berg. USIS uses practices that are not OPM approved. If you find someone who will go class action you need your attorney to subpoena OPM for the Federal Investigator's Handbook and also a copy of the OPM contract USIS operates under. Take a look at a thing called the ABT used by USIS determine why USIS expects the investigators to perform practices not approved by OPM and how they can ethically terminate employees for ethical issues when they themselves are ethically challenged.

There may even be pay elements within the contract that aren't being followed. They're pay structure is only geared to investigator or senior investigators. Associated investigators or left out of the pay loop. There is high turn-over with lower management...ie team leaders and district managers. Field investigators have to cover their own backs because the TL and DM is too busy covering their own. Literally all the feces flows downhill to the investigator. This indicates very poor upper management and a thrust for numbers at the expense of everything else. Good Luck

I could not agree more. I was a gold tier special investigator 2 and certified trainer. With new ownership of the company came a new manager who had no idea what she was doing. She did not follow comapny guidelines on overtime, promotion etc. Had us noting out cases after one visit. When I voiced concerns and inquired about a promotion within weeks I was under investigation for falsification. I was never given a warning and was only conducting case work as I was trained. I never had a warning verbal or otherwise in my file in almost 4 years but was still let go immediately. They tried to dispute unmeployment but were denied. They never paid me a bonus I was due and there was definitely no severence package. I was forced to move from my house and can not get a new loan until I establish myself in anothher line of business for two years. Is that what a loyal and highly skilled and dedicated employee deserves after 4 years of service? USIS has no ethics and no concerns for anything let alone national security or their employees. The only ideal they serve is the almighty dollar, not integrity, not the country, not the people
