Complaint Review: US Standard Moving & Storage Corp

I found this company on line and called them to move boxes only, no furniture. The initial quote was approximately $1700.00 or less depending on the number of boxes and size. Boxes were small and medium in size. They asked for a $500.00 deposit and took $600.00 and I questioned this. All boxes were in the garage and ready for loading when the moving company Luxury Van lines LLC arrived. After loading they charged me $1904.56. I asked David the foreman why the charge was greater than the quote and his reply was if I knew how much US Standard was really going to charge me I wouldn't do business with them. He then demanded I pay him and his two workers an additional $400.00 in cash as a tip. They would not leave until I made out a check.  I was so intimidated by their behavior and I paid them.

Delivery was due in 2-3 days but did not occur for 1 week. I was told prior to the arrival of the delivery people that I would need to pay cash, an additional charge of $1904.56  or they would put my belongings in storage and charge me. I  went to the local bank and called my bank in LA but was unable to get cash at the last minute. I called US Standard and their voicemail was full. The driver called and spoke with someone who threatened me. Finally they allowed me to pay with credit card.

Many of my belongings were damaged and broken and the driver did not know if I had received all of my things. I filed a dispute with my credit card company which is ongoing and filed a report with the police department being concerned for my personal saftey.
