Complaint Review: US Veterans Assistance Foundation

I received a call from the US Veterans Assistance Foundation 1 1/2 to 2 weeks ago.

This is not Veterans Assistance Foundation, Inc.!  The Veterans Assistance Foundation, Inc. is a reputable non-profit company truly helping veterans in need. 

The gentleman on the phone said that he was calling from the US Veterans Assistance Foundation and was having a fund drive. He asked for a donation. I told him that I don't donate to any organization that I was not familiar with. I asked that he send me a letter on company letterhead so that I could research the company. Once my research was complete and I was satisfied, I told him I would donate. The letter arrived this week from the US Veterans Assistance Foundation, A Political Action Committee. They never mentioned on the call it was a PAC. I googled the company, and I was brought to the Veterans Assistance Foundation, Inc. website - vafvets.org. The website said that they NEVER do phone solicitations. It says that if you receive a phone call, it is fraudulent and not to donate. Then, I saw that the top of the letterhead logo matched the logo on the website for Veterans Assistance Foundation, Inc. It is clear that the PAC is masquerading as the "Inc." company. They are asking donations meant for the "Inc." non for profit go to the PAC. This is fraud.

DO NOT give any money to Veterans Assistance Foundation PAC.  Their website is usvaf.org.  

So, if you want to help veterans in need, go to vafvets.org.  This is the correct company.
