I bought a box of beef from a guy selling it from a truck. He was insistent and kept dropping the outrageous prices from the brochure. He said I'll hold your check until next month with Telecheck. I said that means it's cashed right away and he said No, it won't be cashed until next month. So I bought the meat and later that day, I cooked up the chopped beefsteak. The outside of the meat was red, but the underside was brownish. A lot of fluid came out during cooking and it shrank up. When I tasted it after cooking, there was no flavor. Kind of like cardboard, so I offered it to my dog. My dog took one sniff and walked off. He eats anything, but not this meat. Save your money and buy from grocery stores, not this awful stuff.

Meat Suckers

Your check was already cashed (hammered). Just try calling for a refund.

Remember, only a sucker buys meat, chicken or fish by the piece. Always know the cost per pound, not the cost per piece.

What USDA grade was the meat? The website and salesperson (contractor) doesn't mention that. There's a reason why. It's nothing to brag about. The USDA has 9 grades for meat. The top 3 are prime, choice and select. What you're buying is below that, sometimes WAY below that.

USDA inspected is NOT the same as a USDA grade. Most dog food is USDA inspected.

Why not just go to the neighborhood meat market or supermarket? You can select your cut fresh and I guarantee you the butcher won't be embarassed to tell you the actual weight or USDA grade. You won't need to buy $200 worth either. If there's a problem refunds are not a problem.

Buying meat off a truck is always a losing proposition. Protect your wallet and your family.

What were you thinking?? Are you STUPID?? Why would you even think of buying meat off the back of a truck? You have absolutely no recourse if it's bad as you would from a grocery store. You have no idea of how it was handled, how many times it was frozen, thawed, etc.

Just common sense here. You have to be a total moron to buy meat off the back of a truck.

It sounds to me like you didn't follow the instructions when you cooked the meat. The meat is all guaranteed for a year, so why would you say it was a ripoff if you could have gotten your money back?

I have bought the meat before. There is very little fat on each piece of meat, very tender and you are given special instructions on cooking. I have bought the meat every year for 5 years, and I have never had this problem.

You stating that the meat was brownish in the middle suggests that you don't know how to cook meat. Sounds to me like you didn't follow the simple instructions.

Also, one person treating you poorly like this guy must have does not mean the entire company was this way. Did you call the company to report this guy? They have a strict policy on this type of behavior and he would have been fired after that call.
