I have been communicating with michael in reguards to selling my van for 700 and he sent me a check for 1350 and said to send the remaining money to the shipping people. I recieved the check but there was nothing to let me know where to send the rest of the money to. then i find out it is a scam so I DID NOT cash the check and i still have it. furthermore, i called the phone numbe on the check of USA Notebook, Inc. and got a recording. All signs of a fraud.

Was this transaction through Craigslist? Sounds like a CLASSIC Craigslist scam. They email you and say their "secretary" or whomever made a mistake and sent you too much money, "go ahead and cash the check/money order" and wire the rest back to them.
You were smart not to do it! You would have been out your van, the money PLUS any NSF fees charged by your bank!
Scammers suck!
