My local phone service in Chicago is SBC. We also have our DSL through SBC as well. I discovered a bogus $22.00 per month charge added to my phone bill from USA Voicemail, billed to me from OAN, a billing service for USA voicemail.

I phoned SBC in 09/2004, to inquire what this was for. SBC advised I had to contact OAN. OAN advised I had clicked on a pop up and "purchased" voicemail from USA voicemail. I immediately cancelled this bogus voicemail.

It is now 01/2005 and to date this voicemail has been cancelled, but I have only received one of the $22.00 refunds and am still following up for the second $22.00.

I was advised by SBC that these state regulated "services" can add any charges to your phone bill. It is up to you to dispute them.
