USAA Home Equity Ripoff deception charged credit card for services without telling of high cost San Antonio Texas
USAA contacted us by mail, offering to re-finance our house. When we mailed in the application, we got a phone call back stating that a representative would come out to look at the house, BUT AT NO TIME DID THEY MENTION ANY CHARGE FOR THIS SERVICE. Two weeks later we discovered an unauthorized charge of $165.00 on one of our credit cards (also from USAA). When we called them, they said it was for a home inspection.
If we had been told that it was going to cost us $165 to apply for a home loan (which we knew we wouldn't get, because our mobile home isn't on a permanent foundation) we WOULD NEVER HAVE AGREED to them stealing our money.
When I phoned them, that department was closed for the day, so now I HAVE TO CALL THEM BACK. Results to follow.
