I recently refinanced my home through USAA based on what has been, until, now, an execeptionally good experience with USAA.

Unfortunately, USAA subcontracts their mortgage lending, to an unscrupulous and poorly managed division, PHH Mortgage Services. During my refinancing, my loan agent quit, and my loan was reassigned. At closing, which was late, all the documents appeared to be in order.

Now, four months later, I find I am being billed $1200 for flood insurance. I have heard of this ripoff from other low-life lenders, but never expected this from USAA. I provided copies of my project's flood insurance policy prior to closing.

It may interest you, concerned reader, to know that my apartment is located on the 24th floor. If I am in a flood zone, then God help the rest of you. Nonetheless, my building carries a master policy for the lobby and common areas.

My point is that to asses $1200 for flood insurance without contacting me to clarify the situation is immoral and dishonest, the last thing I ever expected from USAA. But USAA has turned a blind eye to its single unscrupulous division, and must be held accountable for its actions.
