I contacted USAFIS to assist with my life partner's diversity lottery visa application. They sold me on a 10 year package to do an entry every year for 10 years. They were at first very communicative and responsive and phoned me regularly.

Then when the application was done and everything that was requested was uploaded to their application website and emailed I started having to constantly email to follow up. Eventually when they phoned it would just go dead when I answered. I'm guessing this is so they have a record that they did try to phone if this becomes a legal issue. However I did email on more than one occassion stating that I answered and could hear nothing on the other end, probably four times this happened.

I stopped receiving emails from David Elias who was my contact person up until that point. I sent a complaint to the main email address on their website and they sent me generic automated replies and next steps which I had already done months before. When I replied to complain I received another automated email about uploading photos to their website which again had been done months before AND emailed to them.

At this point I suspected that I had been duped and that as a South African they think we will have no means to legal recourse.
