Looks like I have alot of company! I received my phone bill from SBC. It had a charge for a call to Sweden for $22 that they list as being made at 8:44 am on 1/05/05. I called USBI to dispute the charge and the rep tried to tell me that our computer had dialed up the call.

My husband and I were both at work. The computer was turned off because there had been an ice storm the night before and our power had been flickering on and off.

When I mentioned this, the rep told me that "as a courtesy" they'll reverse the charges, but it would take two billing cycles to show up. They also offered to block any further calls from my number which I accepted. I'm not holding my breath.

I have reported this to SBC and have yet to hear back. I let them know that I will pay for my local phone service as usual, but will not pay this charge. I am filing reports with the Kansas Attorney General, FTC and FCC. I realize that my charges are small after reading other reports on this website, but these slimebags must be put out of business and our local phone companies (SBC, Verizon, etc.) need to wise up as well.
