I was unaware that a year ago a charge labeled as USBI on my phone bill was in fact a fraud scheme from the internet. Over the past year I have been charged 15.00 a month for services I never asked for.

I found out what the charge was when I called my phone company earlier today, just to see if I could change some services to lower my phone bill. That is when the operator pointed out the charge to me from USBI which is a provider for Voicenet, and said they have been seeing a lot of them lately. He also informed me how they obtain your information to start charging you.

What happens is you get a pop up on your computer. Once the pop up opens it then releases a bug that obtains all of your information from your modem. It then cross references your phone number online to obtain all of your other information. Then they leech themselves onto your phone bill.

I called the 888 number to talk to one of their representatives to cancel the service, and of course obtain a refund. I told her the information was obtained without my knowledge, and she preceded to tell me that she has my internet form that she claims I filled out. I informed her that I did not and that I want my money back, and if I had to, I would get a lawyer, because she has no solid proof or written contract that says I obtained the service.

She then told me she would not argue with me, and that they are a legitimate company and service, and that they would not have obtained the information illegally, and in order to receive a refund, I would have to fax over copies of all the bills in which I received a charge. I see this as an attempt to bury me in paper work.

They do not understand that I am determined, and I will get my money back. They haven't heard the last from me, and I advise everyone to look at their phone bills more closely, and if you see a new charge, call your phone company and make sure it is legitimate.

The Voicenet named is not the correct Voicenet. You want voicenetplus.com. This happened to me too!

I had a charge on my telephone bill. I googled and called Voicenet. I told the receptionist that on my phone bill, it stated -- USBI behalf of VoiceNet Telephone, LLC. The receptionist stated that they do not charge and do not have access to charge the telephone bill. She also stated that they are not VoiceNet Telephone and USBI does not show up on their invoices.

I was so upset. So I googled other Voicenet's. I found www.voicenetplus.com. It states right on their home page: "Charges for your monthly calling plan will appear on the local telephone bill on the USBI bill page as being billed on behalf of VoiceNet Telephone, LLC." Plus the charges they advertise matched my bill.

This information helped me, maybe it will help you. I pulled this from their website:
Any time you wish to cancel service, just email us at cancel1@voicenetplus.com or call our Customer Service Department at 1-877-860-3006. VoiceNet Telephone, LLC. provides network long distance service, and VoiceNet Telephone, LLC. is the underlying service provider.
