2017 Dodge Caravan. Test drove it fine, didn't notice any issues. Decided to purchase it at $8200, during process, sales person made me write a statement that I accepted the car in the current condition with no warranty. Since I didn't notice any issues, I agreed.

Right at 50 miles, the engine computer reset and started displaying error codes. Took it in to repair shop who found that not only was the transmission totally toast, the camshaft and lifters needed to be replaced. Total cost was $9700. Took it to a second shop without telling them of the issues, they diagnosed the same problems at a slightly cheaper rate.

At this point I had put right at 100 miles on the car.

I asked them what they were going to do for me. I asked for them to rewrite the contract to sell me the car for the original downpayment and I'd take care of the repairs. And if they didn't like that I'd be open to counters. They replied that "We're not on the same planet, don't bother contacting us again."

Further research finds that they've done this to other people. Their reviews are full of these kinds of issues.

Unless your state has a special law. The Default position for all used items is As-Is. You should of brought or had a mechanic look at it before buying. That is your responsibility. When state does have a law it is  a 30 day warranty if the car is under 80K miles. This is mainly New York, and a few East Coast States. Even is case of a mechanic they may not have found the issue if the car did not show any error codes in the computer.
