I responded to a FB online line sell buy and trade for a pair of Congo African Grey Parrots which had been DNA tested, registered and were healthy. the ad was $500.00 for the pair or $350.00 for one to include cage, toys etc. I contacted the seller who provided some information that the pair was female and male, the age of the parrots, the names or the parrots etc. I asked the seller why she was selling the parrots she stated that she had brain cancer and required surgery and would not be able to care for them. I asked the seller where she was from since I did not recognized the prefix of the number she stated that she was from Perryton Texas she then asked where I was located at in which I told her that I was near Laredo Texas, her next comment was if I would be driving to pick up the parrots or if they would be shipped to my residence. Perryton is several hundred miles from where I am from therefore driving was not an option so I asked how much shipping would cost. The seller stated the cost was included in the price that she was not looking for the money rather than to find a good home for her parrots. (Yep she got me).

She asked for my shipping address and that she would be going over to the transport company that day in order to register the for the delivery. I provided her with my email address along with the home address for delivery she stated that the delivery service would be contacting me for additional information and that she would be contacting me in order to arrange payment for the parrots. . The seller provided me with the details to an account in order to proceed with payment. The a account information she provided was Bank PNC account names Benjamin Wennger account number (((Redacted))) routing number (((Redacted))) an e-mail address of (((Redacted))) I paid the individual utilizing CHASE QUICKPAY.

Today I was contacted by the Pet transportation company ascertaining if I had received an e-mail I which I stated no; the poorly English speaking gentlemen asked me to check my junk mail. The e-mail was resent several times at the same time the seller kept texting me that the transport agency had stated that here was a problem with my e-mail.

This is copied and paste version of the email that I received; notice that is has no contact information.

ACCEPT GREETINGS FROM  USHIP PET AND ANIMAL DELIVERY SERVICE AND OUR STAFFS.WE EARLIER CONFIRMED THE PAYMENT FOR THE TRANSPORTATION AND DELIVERY FEE OF YOUR  MALE AND FEMALE AFRICAN GREY PARROTS .IT WAS NOTICED THAT YOUR PARROTS NEEDED TO BE TRANSPORTED  IN AN ELECTRONIC TEMPERATURE REGULATOR CAGE.THIS WAS ALERTED BY THE ANCHORAGE PET INSPECTION TEAM,AS THE CAGE WHICH WAS BROUGHT BY YOUR SENDER WAS REJECTED (NOT ELECTRONIC) DUE TO THE FORESEEN CLIMATE BETWEEN PERRYTONE,TX AND LAS VEGAS,NV. THEREFORE WE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO PROCEED WITH THE DELIVERY AS AN ELECTRONIC TEMPERATURE REGULATOR CAGE IS RECOMMENDED FOR THE DELIVERY OF THESE BIRDS,ELSE THE PETS RISK DYING OR FALLING SICK IN THE PROCESS OF DELIVERY.

WE HEREBY CALL ON YOUR ATTENTION THAT AN ELECTRONIC TEMPERATURE REGULATORY CAGE IS NEEDED BEFORE WE PROCEED WITH THE DELIVERY OF YOUR BIRDS.THIS CAGE SHOULD BE PROVIDED TODAY,SO THAT WE CAN PROCEED WITH THE  FLIGHT TO YOUR LOCATION .


DUE TO OUR RELIABILITY WE WILL MAKE PROVISION FOR THIS CAGE BUT IT COMES ALONG WITH AN ADDITIONAL FEE.

AND ONLY YOUR PARROTS  WILL BE HANDED TO YOU . AS SOON AS THE  CAGE IS BOUGHT OR RENTED FROM US, THE DELIVERY WILL PROCEED IMMEDIATELY TO MEET UP WITH THE FINAL ARRIVAL TIME OF YOUR PARROTS  AT YOUR RESIDENCE.   SO YOU ARE TO USE THE SAME INFORMATION'S YOU HAVE USED PREVIOUSLY TO MAKE THE  PAYMENT FOR THE CRATE.
  
WE ARE VERY SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCES THIS MIGHT HAVE CAUSED YOU BUT STILL REMIND YOU THAT EVERYTHING WE DO IS FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR PARROTS.

When the gentleman contacted me again he wanted me to pay the $970.00 via western union which I told him No; that I needed a website where I could make review and make a payment via credit card. The gentlemen stated hold on and then stated I could pay via CHAE QUICKPAY now tell me how this man knew that I even had a CHASE account. He texted from the following number ***-***-**** and provided me with the same name, account and routing number that the seller provided me Mr. Benjamin Wennger when I questioned this the man told me that I did not have to worry about that; that if I had read and understood the e-mail which stated that I would get a refund once my parrots were delivered and the cage returned to the courier.  I asked how I would receive the refund he stated in cash. I proceeded to tell him that I did not understand why they would not deal with a credit card he said it can be done but it takes three days and in the meantime my parrot’s health would be in jeopardy.

While this is taking place the seller keeps texting me telling me that she is confused that she taught that I was caring, and that all this stress was and for her health I told her she would need to return my money and that I was sorry but this was way to much and the transport company was a scam. I did not want to upset her therefore I told her that she too has a victim of the transport company and that she should go and get her parrots. She then text me that her husband was going to call me in which a gentlemen with even a worst accent called me from at ***-***-**** number and proceeded to tell me that his wife was very upset and kept crying that she was worried about the parrots. He kept talking but I hardly could understand a word he was saying.

I asked him to simple questions one what is your name in which he replied Mike then I asked what is your wife’s name he hesitated for a couple of second I repeated the question 3 times he finally replied Vanessa. I am sure that he was not Mike nor his wife was Vanessa.

I called the number from which the cellular had texted me and of course there was not respond I also called the alleged transport company in which they did pick up the phone but did not talk.

My family and I are out of $500.00 dollars it was ignorant of me for believing the seller and that I could get such a great deal with the parrots. I did not pay the $970.00 which had been requsted for the temperture control cage.

 I hope that these scam artists are caught sooner rather than later; In order to stop these individuals from stealing peoples hard earn money.
