Sent a package to customer in Santa Maria, Ca by USPS Insured Priority.  Apparently the Post office delivery lady left the package at the front door in plain sight of the street.

When customer gets home the package is gone.  She talked to the Postmistress and the carrier and they said too bad, it was probably stolen.  The customer asked why the carrier didn't leave the package at the side of the porch where it couldn't been seen from the street.

Bottom line, we were saving about $1 per package by using USPS over UPS.  But this loss wipes out our savings for the whole month.  We will no longer be using USPS and will go back to UPS and FED EX for all our packages except those going into PO Boxes.

All that money we gave USPS for "Insurance" was really a waste.  The United States Post Office is a real Rip Off!

Signature Confirmation would mean that you would have to sign for the package. Meaning the carrier wouldn't leave it on your doorstep. Although I don't recall us ever leaving things at doors that way. If the customer was home and the package wouldn't fit in the mailbox, our carriers always brought them back to the station...UNLESS a customer received a lot of packages and had asked for deliveries to be left on the doorstep, porch, etc., if there was no answer at the door.

And if you think FedUPS don't do the same thing, then you're not very bright. THEY DO. My roommate is a transplant survivor and gets medications delivered every single month by UPS. These medications are worth more than any package you send or receive. BY FAR. We're talking tens of thousands of dollars.

And UPS LEAVES THEM ON THE DOORSTEP.
