V3 transportation hires drivers through fleet owners. The majority of drivers work for fleet owners who lease trucks and vans to V3. The office staff are the only 'employees', meaning they get a w2. All drivers are subcontracted and earn 20-30% of what their truck makes. (If the fleet manager doesn't take additional money for his salary)

If your truck sits, you make zero.

John Sliter and other key people at V3 own a large portion of the total fleet. Their vans and trucks stay busy and their drivers earn steady pay. The rest of the fleet gets leftovers. Owner operators can't survive here. Dispatch prioritizes their bosses trucks and keeps them rolling.

If you start job hunting and they (V3) receive a call from a potential employer, they will not give you a good reference.

There's no way to leave as a driver and keep last 2 weeks of pay. If you leave with notice, the fleet owner can claim the truck was damaged or needed to be cleaned, which gives them a reason to keep the money you earned driving. If you fail to give notice, they keep your last 2 settlements, saying you're required to give notice. Some fleet owners expect 30 days notice. In which case you work 30 days for free. You'll never see the money you earned AND you won't be able to use them as a reference.

You are a 1099 sub contractor. Once the job is done, you should be able to walk away. This is business. The fleet owners keep your last two payments and NOBODY will give you a good recommendation. There's no benefit to driving at this company. By the time you're paid, too many fingers have been in the pie.
