I did not show up for the sales pitch after reading a report here.  I should have known better as I received a call around 8pm last night and they didn't even ask for me!  But the Manilla telemarketer said she had a great offer to give me instead!

I admit, the two free airline tickets and $100 restaurant gift card was something I thought, "why not, let's try it out".

But it was a hard pitch after that and it made me uncomfortable enough to search today.

They really pushed to know my birth date - I don't give out that info so finally they asked "are you between 27-72?"

They really pushed for BOTH my cell number and my spouses.  They would not take no for an answer.  Finally I gave them mine and said that will have to deal.

They wanted our full names right away because they needed to send me an official certificate for the airline vouchers.  This "official" certificate was in WORD format, emailed to me, and I could easily change it.  In fact, google Vacations Ur Way and you can find a pdf version!  There was nothing official about it.

They clearly state that major credit cards need to be shown when we arrive.  That makes me uncomfortable.

They really pushed for me to "validate" my income, and finally I said if I needed to show proof I would not come.  My word was enough.  They backed off.

The callers - both the original one and the "manager" finalizer - were obviously in a boiler room atmoshpere - it was SO LOUD they had to yell for me to hear them.  Furhter, the originally caller, whom told me she worked for Delta Airlines, admitted at one point that this Grand Opening meeting was actually NOT aligned with Delta but that she worked for Delta.  That made no sense to me.

The official document really presses that NO ONE would be pushy!  It seems to me the more you need to emphasize this, the more perhaps it is true.

So, I won't be going and wasting my time.  THANKS to this site for confirming my fears before going!

We were called about going to a presentation, sat through the presentation, indicated to the salesperson and to the "closer" that we could not purchase the vacation club plan, got our incentive awards and left.  They did not write down our credit card number, only looked at the card.  While some might have considered it a "hard sell" approach, we didn't feel that way at all.  We have been to other presentations with much more pressure to buy.
