Val's Services Cleaning Val Oliveira I had to resign due to a medical injury obtained on the job and they fined me for quitting and sent debt collectors after me and my family, they also threatened to ruin my credit. Chicago Illinois
I was employed by Val's Services Cleaning for around one month during July 2022 when I was in college. During this time, I obtained a concussion and was not permitted to work, doctor's orders. There were absolutely no accomodations made for me, and I was still being sent to far away places. After a few strenuous trips where I had to carry many cleaning supplies up multiple flights of stairs, I realized I could not physically complete these tasks any longer, not with my concussion. I had to submit a letter of resignation due to the urgency of the situation, I was met with a lot of contradictory answers, one being that I was released from my contract.
They then said I had to complete 30 days of work after my resignation or they would charge me upwards of $700. In multiple emails, I stated that I would suck it up and complete the required 30 days of work after resigning because I couldn't afford to pay them more than I had made the entire time working there as a college student; to be specific, I mentioned it in 2 emails and then sent a follow up.
I never heard back from anyone. Later, I received first of many calls from debt collectors harassing me about paying the fee and threatening to destroy my credit score. I am still getting harrassed to this day, now they are going after my family too. This is retaliation and they will not relent.
