Thursday 7/6/2006 at 10:15 AM. The mechanic at Value Brakes at 703 Anderson Rd. tried to tell me that my rotors were undersize and that my drums on my Toyota Prius could not be turned and had to be replaced.
I asked him if he had checked them with a micrometer and he said yes. I asked if I could see what he checked them with.

He brought out a set of calipers.

I have been a machinist for 23 years. Measuring is what I do.

I measured the rotors and got .860 compared to the .781 that he said he had gotten. I think that he didn't know how to use a set of calipers. This is plenty of material to turn the rotors.

Their only purpose was to ripoff another customer.
There is no such thing as a $99 brake job at Value Brakes.
