I recently purchased a new sofa from Value City Furniture in January 2002. I purchased the Stainsafe Fabric Protection along with Extended Protection Program (EPP). Both of these extra warranties were at additional cost to me.

In July 2002, I had to make a claim on on my sofa regarding several tears and the cover on the arm of my couch. First Value City sent out someone from there company to fix the cover on the arm of the couch. He said that Stainsafe would have to make another appointment to come out and photograph the tears.

Stainsafe agreed that the tears where enough to replace the furniture, but I would have to pay an additonal cost for another Stainsafe Fabric protection. I feel this sofa is not even 1 year old and I should not have to pay another additonal cost for this sofa, when the first cost was to cover the sofa for 7 yrs. I was told by Value City Furniture that once Stainsafe replaced the sofa that my warranty was voided out and another warranty would have to be bought for the new sofa they were replacing.

I feel that this is just a scam to get more money out of consumers. Value City never explained that once you use your Stainsafe that the warranty becomes voided and another warranty needs bought. I am still waiting to hear from Value City Furniture and StainSafe to see if they are going to back up their product or continue to scam people out of a useless warranty.
