I purchased a sealy posturpedic mattress from Value City Furniture in Orland Park Il. I was told by the salesman I could return it if we were not satisfied. After two nights of sleeping on one of the hardest mattresses I have ever come accross, we went back to the store where we were told that they never return mattresses. The salesman admitted to telling us that we could return it, the manager told us they will not return it and we can re-select only because the saleperson told us that. So we re-selected a new one and this one was just a hard as the first one. The two mattresses that came to our house are nothing like the displays on the floor, the floor is softer than these mattresses that came to our house and they are unacceptable. I have called the corporate offices numerous times and have been disconnected. When I finally got through they told me each indiviual store has to handle it. I have talked to numerous managers and they told me they are absoluely not returning this mattress because they are not going to eat them. I feel we tried it their way in re-selecting and were still dissatisfied and they are not honoring what the salesman told me from the beginning that they will return it. One main reason they would not return the first mattress was because it was taken out of the plastic (by the delivery guys, not us) so the second mattress is still in its original plastic. The manager also told me the only thing they would do is take it back with a $240 recharge fee. I said a restocking fee?? she told me they would never resell a mattress that was in someones house and told me I was insulting their store. I asked why would you charge me a recharge fee if you are not planning on reselling it, she said they may put it in the back room for sale because it is still in the original packaging...sounds like a restocking fee to me. I believed I have been lied to, to get the sale and they are not honoring what the salesman admitted to telling us. It was an $869.99 mattress only, no boxspring and why should I have to eat it when the salesman admitted to it.
