I purchased a sofa from Value Furniture Warehouse on 7/19/04 (a deposit) and 7/20/04, for a total of $425.36. They promised delivery on the same evening of 7/20/04, but the sofa was not delivered. I called the next day, on 7/21/04, and asked if the sofa would be delivered. Again, they gave me a specific timeframe in the afternoon and then failed to deliver the sofa at that time.

On 7/22, I called the company to ask for a refund of my purchase. On the back of their receipt, the printed policy states, If the merchandise is not delivered by the promised due date, the customer may either (1) cancel the order with a prompt, full refund of any payments made, or (2) accept delivery at a specific later date.

I asked the store to refund my purchase when the sofa was not delivered on the promised date. They refused, despite their written policy. Not only that, but three months later, I contacted the company again on 10/14 and 10/15 to ascertain their legal headquarters so that I can file this complain; on the evening of 10/15, they sent the delivery man with the sofa to try to force delivery. They did not contact me to arrange this, and I was not home, so the delivery was not made.

There was a story published by ABC about this company's history of negligence.
