Complaint Review: Vancouver Career College

Vancouver Career College VCC, Eminata Group I was conned and forced into debt by VCC and Eminata Group Vancouver, British Columbia

I made a huge mistake by enrolling in Vancouver Career College in one of their other campuses (outside Vancouver). The admissions rep (who earned at least some of his salary on commission) lied and manipulated to get me to sign up to a longer program that I didn't need for my particular vocation - I only needed a course which was half the price and half the length of time he talked me into.

I got put into 20k of debt for nothing. I got a lousy education at a school which was constantly having problems, had a rotating staff (my rep was later fired for conning numerous students), and completely unprofessional teachers. My teacher gossiped with students about sex, dieting, celebrity news and all kinds of matters unrelated to school. She even had students house-sitting for her, changed grades on a whim, helped students cheat on tests by essentially giving the answers beforehand, and raised her favourite student's GPA by 2 points. Any time anyone complained or had issues they were bullied, back-stabbed and made to feel unwelcome and like an outcast. There was no help at all from other staff who were rude and couldn't be bothered once the papers were signed and your money was paid.

I had a horrible experience there and I've come to find that hundreds or more students have been ripped off in the same way (forced into longer courses, lied to, conned into bigger loans and paying more to the school) and numerous lawsuits have been launched. The school is a massive joke and once out in the real work world many employers won't hire you after learning where you graduated from (an unprofessional, ridiculous, rip-off "for profit" school that nobody takes seriously). If you travel elsewhere you'll find you're not properly qualified for anything and you're 10-20k "diploma" is almost worthless.

DO NOT ATTEND VANCOUVER CAREER COLLEGE - it is a huge waste of time and money. My complaints have been echoed by hundreds more students now in the same situation.

Vancouver Career College is owned by Eminata Group, which owns half a dozen other "for profit" colleges which all have the same problems and are being investigated. They've also had many lawsuits launched against them. It's run by Peter Chung, the executive chairman who was run out of the US after defrauding students there, having his school closed down, and violating thousands of conduct codes and laws.

The website was not taken down because it was inaccurate, but rather because parties made repeated complaints to Google and attempted to stifle free speech. I created a second blog with the same information based on the FACTS:

Only positive things to say

I took the Medical Office Assistant program in Surrey last year. The program is 7 months long and unlike what some people say, employers are eager to hire students who have graduated from Vancouver Career College because the program works and you can get a job really fast once you have graduated. I am now a medical secretary here in Surrey and I love my job! I would recommend Vancouver Career College to anyone who is looking for a new career in this field.

Oh my! You should've been spending your time on something else, but covering others with dirt. If you were looking for a job you wouldn't have any time on writing these negative reviews.

You said there are hundreds of unsatisfied students. Are you sure? Everybody I know is satisfied and all of them already found a job including myself.

I took the Early Childhood Education program in Burnaby and you know what? I have been working in the field since the moment I graduated from the college. Thanks to Eminata Group, Vancouver Career College, faculty and my classmates. Keep the good work and don't listen to those who blame others in their failure to succeed!

If you need any advice hit me up.
