Hi I am not sure who to turn to, but thought I would start here We have a home mortgage that was just bought out recently by Vanderbilt mortgage company. They automatically started an escrow account, without our permission, and tacked on an extra 83 dollars a month to our house payment. I understand that most escrows accounts are there like this to make the insurance payment each year, but the monthly amount they are charging total at the end of the year, is in excess of what the annual insurance bill is. I would like to know what legal recourse, what government agencies to report this to, to get this resolved. In my opinion they are commitng a crime.

Our original loan was not with them, therefore I feel that they have no right to just start an escrow account and on their own tack on more to our payment each month. Further, they are overcharging and we don't need them to manage our insurance, so we do not feel that we should pay extra for them to manage our insurance if they force it on use this way.

My wife called and spent an hour or so on the phone a couple months back and they just kept passing her from dept to dept. they said the escrow was for insurance and when she asked what the policy number was they said it was canceled... We currently have insurance paid by the year. We believe they are ripping us off and want it stopped. Please help and tell us where to start, what government agencies govern them and who we can contact to report this too, and any other advice..thanks. the mortgage company is in Tennessee...please help and advise..I would also like to know, if the original mortagage company did not require an escrow account, and Vanderbilt bought the mortgage, (vanderbilt requires escrow acct for insurance), but can they force us into an escrow account if we were not originally through them, and how can they get away with charging more than the total insurance is?

They have taken this escrow amount for a year now and we have had our homeowners insurance paid for the whole year and fixing to pay another year.. How can we also get back the money they took last year? thanks..t

you aren't the only one they have done this to. Our contract was recently bought by VBM and they have raised our payments from $277.62 to $402.68 with no reason for this. They refuse to give a reason. They got the house back.
