Varian Electronics is a manufacturing plant that overworks employees for little pay.

They are always laying off good workers. I had been covered in their health insurance for over a year then I found out they had canceled it.

They took money out of every paycheck for 10 months and refused to give me a refund when I found out what they had done.

I couldn't even cancel my insurance. Why the hell would I want to keep paying money on services I am not receiving?

I have three kids to support and couldn't afford the prices they were charging for the insurance.

Now I am stuck with medical bills the company or the insurance co. won't pay.

Because of the mistakes of their Human Resources Department I have tp pay!

Please think twice before thinking about working there. There are many other people who work there that have similar problems.

These people will not come forward because they work for the company and need their jobs. I quit after the problems I had there.

Now I am currently working to take care my children and pay off the debt.

I also worked for Varian in the past.

They have engauged in the following practices.

1) Mandatory 54 hour work weeks for indefinate periods! Schedule is 10hrs a day M-Th and 8 on Fri. 6 Hours on Saturday!

2) Dealing in bad faith with employees! While out sick for emergency surgery my acting manager was allowed to call and harass me in the Hospital; and at my House and HR had to be called to stop it!

3) When I returned to work undue pressure was put on me until I resigned. Because I was out sick, and because I had a family. She verbally berate me daily and personally humiliated me until I exploded. The manager I started there under didn't behave that way and I rather liked him. She attempted to force me into a 50% pay cut because of emergency surgery I was "no longer reliable". Which is funny because in the time I worked for that company I had a history of working excessive hours, and at the height of one project had worked more than 80 hours a week for 4 straight weeks.

4) My insurance was fine, but was REAL expensive.

5) The Supervisor in question was giving out derogatory references to employers.Which is a violation of the law.

I actually resigned in 1999 interesting to see things haven't changed much.

Anyhow if this is the Lisa I am thinking of.
