We stopped service with Vartec May 2003. It is now March 2004 (10 mos.) and they are still billing us for service with them that ended before their billing. Plus we have been handed over to a second collection agency.

The first collection agency (Aug 2003) was polite and when we sent them proof that we did not owe the bill, they immediately dismissed the charge. (Vartec told us this was not a real collection agency, that our account was clear and to ignore the collections notice.)

The second collection agency, CCR Inc, has been rude and snotty, calling us sometimes three times a day.

We tried ever since May 2003 to resolve this issue with Vartec. Not once in all our calling did they allow us to speak with a manager until March 2004 - 10 months after first request.

Each of the dozen times or so over the year that we called we were told that our account was clear and to disregard the billing. But the account was never cleared.

We were told we could not speak to a manager because they did not have access to one, nor would they give us a phone number to a manager.

Our present phone company sent notice to Vartec twice and I sent a third copy to verify that we did not owe the bill.

Now, after 10 mos, and several annoying calls from the 2nd collection agency for this bill, we tried again to clear this with Vartec.

We called Vartec again and finally got a manager. She said again that our account was cleared and in fact Vartec owed us a refund. She said she had emailed the collections company while I was on the phone with her, but the next day we received three more calls from collections and they were snotty with us again.

So, we tried Vartec again. (The collections said that a simple three-way call with us, them, and Vartec would stop the harrassing phone calls.

We then called Vartec four times, asked to speak to a manager. After a very frustrating interaction with their reps, they said they would connect us, but instead put us on hold for up to 30 minutes each time and then hung up on us.

On the fifth call, we spoke to a man who argued with us for 10 minutes that calling collections would do no good, even though
collections said it would.

Today, the issue is still unresolved, our credit report is trashed and we are still being harassed.
