I ordered their Barnburner 7 collection in July 2006 through DirectBuy aka UCC TotalHome. Its now October 4, 2006 and I was told 4-6 weeks for it to be delivered. I was not informed that it would take longer than the 6 weeks, I also was not told that I would have to arrange for the furniture to be picked up because Vaughan-Bassett apparently can't afford to have their truck deliver my furniture to, oh MY HOUSE!

I just moved into a new place, and not having any furniture makes it very difficult. When you purchase through DirectBuy aka UCC TotalHome, you can cancel your order, but you won't get a refund!

Both companies need to be shut down!! But only after everyone gets either their furniture in great condition, or a total and complete refund!

Furnished my whole home through Direct Buy

We furnished our entire house through Direct Buy and everything came in fine. The only thing that was delayed was our coffee table, and a representative called us to inform us that it would be delayed. Over all we are very satisfied with everything we purchased from Direct Buy

I was not expecting them to deliver straight to my house. I was informed by Direct-buy that the delivery of the furniture would be to their warehouse, then I would have to move the furniture to my home. That I did not have an issue with. I made plans with my fiance and our families to help with the furniture.

I ended up not getting the best deal by "cutting out the middle man". And because of such the delay, Direct-buy had 2 of their movers deliver the furniture to my home, which was kind. However due to Direct-buys lack of response to my mother (member of direct-buy) I will never purchase anything through them again.

I don't understand the industry of the furniture business, etc. which is fine...but a lack of response by the company was terrible. As I said, in the title of my original report, I was also dissapointed with Direct-buy/Total Home.

The furniture itself actually turned out quite well, my fiance and I are happy with the furniture, very upset in Direct-buy.
And I am fully aware that the world is not perfect, but lack of quality customer service is intolerable.

I am an interior designer and order furniture directly from manufacterers - they rarely deliver to individuals houses. They are just not set up that way. They send it to the furniture stores wharehouse who sends it to the consumer. I have my own warehouse that accepts deliveries from manufacturers and then delivers the furniture.

You just do not understand the industry.

In addition, deliveries are often delayed and there can be damages. All of these details are normally handeled by a designer or furniture. But you have decided to get the best price possible by cutting out the middle man. Don't expect premium services for bottom dollar pricing its just not fair.
