Complaint Review: VBO Relo - Mayflower

It has been a year since I've had to deal with this company but just discovered this site and feel the need to let people know what happened to me so they can double check things before choosing this company.

They had moved me 2x before w/no issue, however, on the third move, they hired a young kid with ZERO experience and a truck that was too small for my household goods. Boxes were dropped and things were packed badly. I did not request additional insurance as my previous moves had been handled professionally and the people they had hired were experienced and knew what they were doing...I had no idea this kid had no experience until the truck arrived on the 'other end'.

My furniture was completely thrashed and things like armoires were packed in the truck upside down, scratched from top to bottom as if they had been dragged across a floor, knobs ripped off of appliances, legs knocked off antique dressers etc. when I talked to the general manager he blew me off and said it was my problem because I didn't add the extra insurance. My argument was that if the mover was competent, I wouldn't have needed the extra insurance. In addition, the mover left an entire garage full of stuff at the old house 8 hours away...

I had to take my children out of school to go down an let them back in... then, they couldn't deliver the left items for 3 weeks and still to this day have not delivered a few straggler items from their warehouse. I asked for compensation for the inconvenience and reimbursement for my time and trouble and for a few key pieces to be repaired... basically I wanted them to do the right thing since they had chosen an inexperienced contractor for my job (he was immediately removed from their contractor list after my move). They would not and I had to take them to small claims court.

I ended up with enough to repair a few things but did not get compensated for much of my distress. I would advise anyone considering using this company to rethink their decision and to verify that those who will be moving/packing their household have experience with moving. they SUCK!
