I work as a receptionist for one of the Vector Marketing Offices and working there is a nightmare. My boss has two receptionists working 20 hours a week, which she has cut the hours down even more. She lied to us about giving us raises. Sometimes she will ask us not to cash our paychecks because she needs to pay some other bill of hers. She's three months behind on her office rent. She can't pay any of her bills, and she can't manager her finances. And all I hear from the people higher up than her is that she's just the best thing ever. Sometimes she'll blame us on her not having enough money, cause we aren't doing OUR jobs right.

She makes us do HER dishes. I fell down the stairs at work a few weeks ago and all she did was sit there with me and try to "talk" me through the pain. She didn't offer to get me help or call anyone, and she didn't offer workman's comp, probably cause she hasn't been paying her workman's comp insurance.

When we moved into the new office we went without the necessities to do our job, because she didn't want to pay for it. Eventually she was able to work some agreement out with our neighboring office and now she doesn't pay anything. She made me and another co-worker go to this conference and paid for our time there, but didn't reimburse us for the gas it took to drive down there from where we live, which is three hours away.

She makes us give her rides every where cause she loans her car out. We have to use our own gas to do it. That include taking her to work, to run errands, ect. She also asks us to pay for things that we shouldn't even have to pay for. When ever we are out of a certain office supply SHE needs, she tells us to look around our neighbors office and go through his things to find it, and he is a psychologist. She is shameless and doesn't care about anybody but herself. She also doesn't pay a lot of her employees even though they do their appointments like they're suppose to, she just makes up an excuse as to why those appointments don't count. The reason I know this is because she makes ME check on them.

Working here is a nightmare and whatever you do, if you get a phone call or you make one about a job and you hear the title "Vector", do not apply. Just tell them you are not interested and hang up. DO NOT HANG UP WITHOUT TELLING THEM YOU'RE NOT INTERESTED, OR THEY WILL KEEP CALLING YOU.

She is a liar!

I am a sales rep for vector, and also a receptionist, and this is not true.  The manager here is AWESOME! She does pay her reps for their presentations, as long as they meet the requirements that are given to the reps before they even start doing presentations!  She is not behind on her rent, she pays EVERY month.  She asks us, if we aren't doing anything else, to wash the dishes occasionally, but then again she is paying us to work, and if there is nothing else to do people shouldn't expect to get paid to do nothing!  Yes we work with the office next door, and PAY to use their internet and copy machine, she doesn't steal anything!  As for the conference, she lent us her car, with a full tank of gas, I don't think it was to much to ask for us to put 10 dollars each in the tank.  Her house was on the way to work from the other receptionist's house, and she said "if you can't give me a ride, don't reply to the text, and I'll assume you didn't get it."  We were never forced to do anything, but be polite.  The last report was written by a disgruntled ex-employee and lied to get back at a woman that does everything she can for other people!

Cutco is a sham

i worked for CUTCO/ Vector for 2 yrs and here is the scoop. CUTCO is a great product. VECTOR marketing is horrible and needs a complete managment overhaul. Vector managers are some of the most unprofessional peopel i have ever delt with. I did cutco as a part time gig because i was in school. I did very well at it but here are somethings you need to know.

Those great paychecks you  supposedly get are awesome at the time until tax season comes along. expect to pay most of that money you recieved back at the end of the year. As far as the managment is concerned i worked at the VECTOR in mobile but we had the same issues as stated in this post. And, reading through the many posts on here it is not just an isolated problem. I suggest to the poster of this report that you look into other employment before this place goes up in smoke and you are left jobless. Oh and to the poster who said that the manager had personal issues. Im sorry as a boss of my own company i dont get the right to have personal issues that effect my buisness. My employees come first before i do. My job is to make a profit but take care of them as well. If you can't  manage your personal problems at home then maybe you shouldnt be running a buisness. i understand that a mis-carriage is a big deal. (my wife had one) But, you still have a job to do. She needs to be replaced until she can get her affairs in order.

This is a completely untrue statement

I worked for this company and everything in this statement is untrue. I was the one who fell down the stairs and my manager was nothing but helpful whn it happened. She has never stolen from our neighbors, and we all do dishes of our own free will because it has been something that we have personally used for food or what not. And she does take care of all her responsibilities, including paying her bills.

My manager has never asked us to do something that she herself would not personally do. She is very tolerant and understanding if one of her employees ever has a problem. And what company isn't having a hard time right now in this economy. One thing I can tell you is that she is doing what ever she needs to to make sure the company stays afloat, including working late hours and sometimes over night.

She gave me an opportunity to work with her when no one else would, because of a mistake I made in my past. She is very professional, kind-hearted, understanding, and an all around wonderful lady. The company is not a scam, and I have received more experience in my year of employment there, then all other companies I've worked for. It is obvious that whoever wrote this report is seriously misinformed and should take this report down immediately. For anyone who runs into this report, don't take it to heart. Everything in it is untrue.

Not a scam, just a poor performing manager

I was really saddened to come across this report as I have worked with Vector/Cutco and the Reno manager for over seven years.  I have had a great experience with the company and personally know the Reno manager to be one of the most genuine and caring people in my entire circle of contacts.  I will not make excuses for some of her actions, but I think that this complaint does not give an accurate depiction of the company or the Reno District Manager.

First off, I think it should be noted that this complaint is not regarding the company as much as it is the manager of the Reno office.  CUTCO is the largest manufacturer of cutlery in the US and the top selling brand, and at a time when the majority of our manufacturing work has been offshored, that alone is commendable.  With any major corporation there will be some people who feel they have been wronged and there will be some employees who will be responsible, but that does not make the corporation a ripoff, it just means sometimes people make mistakes (both intentional and accidentally).

I have always been paid what I was promised and there have been countless times where I have seen the company er on the side of the customer and/or the rep to help while the company took the brunt of the mistake.  I am also one of the people who has to deal with when managers mess up, and I have seen time and time again that it's not with malicious intent, usually it's just a person making an administrative mistake.

With regards to the Reno manager - her office has underperformed and because of that she has been financially strapped for quite some time.  The managers are not paid a salary, they are paid on performance and they are required to pay for their own business expenses (rent, office supplies, receptionist pay etc).  I do not want to make excuses for her actions of being late with payments or her asking for rides, but I will say that everything she has done has been an attempt to avoid having to close down her office.

The business is just like school where two kids take the same class and one gets an A and the other gets a D.  The teacher said the same thing at the front of the class but the two kids acted differently and got different results.  The company program is set-up the same for reps and managers, some do exceptionally, most do average, and some do poorly.  She is not a bad person, she has just been a poor performing manager in the past year.

In addition, I know that this year has been exceptionally hard for her emotionally as she has had to deal with a miscarriage.  I can personally say that she has agonized over her personal life and how her business has performed trying to figure out how to improve.  I have advised her to step down from the position because I have watched this struggle.  She doesn't want to quit because she doesn't want to let others down and also doesn't want to quit on herself.  That's not devious, it's just someone trying to persevere and succeed, and regardless of her sales numbers I think it is one of the most honorable things a person can do - work hard towards improving.

The main point is that the company is not a scam.  The program is simple and those who follow it properly will be successful.  Some personalities are more naturally talented to work with people or understand certain concepts, but after seven years and four as a manager I have watched EVERY race, creed, age, sex or sexual persuasion be successful, not from luck, but because they made a choice and realized their commitment through action.  The company has taught me more than my high end bachelors ever did.

*One side note to the receptionist - you are not entitled to be given a certain number of hours to work.  There are thousands of people who have had their hours cut or who have been laid off and I'm sure the companies and people running them do not prefer to make that choice if they don't have to.

I KNEW THAT SHORT-HAIRED LADY WAS UP TO NO GOOD!

#6Consumer Suggestion

That short-haired lady is so lame! She think's she's so slick!

She'll have a BIG-O group interview, where she interviews up to three (3) people at a time and then her big finality, "well if you want to make big bucks.... you have to pay me over $100.00 for you to carry around my knives!"

She's such a joke! I honestly think that she shouldn't blame her employees for not making money!

Because once the community has targeted her and accused her of being a fraud, then no one wants to work for her. She has no moral authority to accuse her employees!

I was at her famous interview, where it seemed like she was teaching workshop to like fifteen (15) people! As soon as I heard that she wanted MY money in order for me to carry around her cheap knives... I ran out the door!

Short-haired haired lady... whatever your name is! I forgot it, since it's been like two (2) years since I went in to you defrauding interview... I've been flagging your ads on Craigslist! That's right! I've been flagging them!

When I call your office and I hear "Vector", I go like "VECTOR?! UGH!". Then I hang up!
