WHEN MONEY PROBLEMS LEAD TO MORAL PROBLEMS

As the recession bites deeper, travel agencies which could survive with legitimate business practices in good times are increasingly turning to fraud.

Vejle Rejser ApS is located at Volmers Plads 4, 7100 Vejle.

This outfit has a large building and a bloated staff from the prosperous years which started the current century.

FRAUD, THEFT

Sometimes the police catch up with these shady operators: "The RCMP has charged the operator of a defunct Regina travel agency with multiple counts of fraud and theft." (Regina travel agency operator charged with fraud, CBC, 3 Apr 2010)

When you come in the door at Vejle Rejser, you're greeted by a very friendly gay man with extremely blue eyes. But he can't help you.

EXTRA-LONG WAIT TIMES

No, you have to wait for one of the girls from the back to waddle out.

If you like women with an extra 30 kg on the backside, you will love Lene Krongaard Nielsen. Lene will take about 10 minutes to find a routing that you could probably find in 3 minutes yourself.

But that would be too cheap and quick.

Why do the work yourself, when you can pay a rip-off joint like Vejle Rejser 80 euros for the privilege -- the privilege of watching Lene Krongaard waddle up to the counter, waddle back to her desk, and finally give you that big price.

DON'T PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD AT THIS PLACE

If you want to avoid credit-card fraud, pay cash. I had some euros, and some Danish Crowns. Lene told me I had to pay the entire sum in euros (at a very bad exchange rate), or the entire sum in Danish money, but couldn't split the payment between euros and crowns.

VEJLE REJSER FRAUD: DELIBERATELY FALSE STATEMENTS FOR FINANCIAL GAIN

Lene's statement was false. Fraud is "A deception deliberately practiced in order to secure unfair or unlawful gain. 2. A piece of trickery; a trick. 3. a. One that defrauds; a cheat". http://www.thefreedictionary.com/fraud

Lene Nielsen is a fraud, because she didn't just deliberately deceive on modality of payment, she also shorted me on the change.

THEY DELIBERATELY WASTE YOUR TIME

The whole business took about 40 minutes. For a job that should have been over in 10 minutes max. And I ended up paying 80 euros commission to this house of fraud.

From the outside, the place looked legit, but:

WHAT THEY REALLY ARE

'It shall be fickle, false and full of fraud,

Bud and be blasted in a breathing-while;

BEHIND THAT BRICK AND GLASS FACADE

The bottom poison, and the top o'erstraw'd With sweets that shall the truest sight beguile:
(William Shakespeare, Venus and Adonis, 1593)

So if you're looking to get ripped off at a marginally competent travel agency, come to Vejle Rejser. And get to know some

"nimble jugglers that deceive the eye,

Dark-working sorcerers that change the mind,

Soul-killing witches that deform the body,

Disguised cheaters, prating mountebanks". (per William Shakespeare, The Comedy of Errors, 1589)
