Complaint Review: Velocity Express Corporation - Velocity Express Leasing - Velocity Express

Yet another ripoff report for velocity express. I am basically a dock worker or I should say I was a dock worker at the Jeffersonville Ohio Velocity Express Facility. I say was because they have put me out on medical leave against my wishes and every time I try to get back to work they wont let me. I am a diagnosed manic depressive bipolar disorder thats key to remember.

The story thus far: On Jan. 10th 2010 I took myself to the hospital late around 2:30am after suffering from a 3 day stint in a really bad manic phase. I was awake for pretty much, when i go into a manic phase I cant sleep at all, all of those 3 days. The hospital gave me a mild sedative and sent me home to sleep. They put me out for that day. I left the hospital around 3:55am. I slept through my 7am deadline to be at work,that was my fault, so I didnt call in on time not such a big deal. My boss at this place Bill Fuller calls my house and tells me im late for work. I explain myself and what happened and told him I couldnt make it in today. So he threatens me of my job and says if I do not come in he will fire me.

So I call human resources, worst idea I ever had. For some reason I believed they could help me....boy was I wrong. After calling around to every place from the New York offices to an office in southern Ohio to find the number for human resources, all this time every person that I got on the phone with told me they couldnt give me the number or didnt have it I talked to mostly managers and higher ups...I know they had that number. Well I finally got the number from a customer service rep who conveniently remembered the number from memory.

I call human resources and get connected to the most smug and flat out rude women I have ever talked to Kay Durbin head of human resources. I told her my whole story from the sleepless nights from the night before and the situation with Bill Fuller, I also express my concerns over Bill Fuller's abusive language. She tells me im going to need a doctors note saying im not a threat to myself or others...fine.

I go to my mental health theripst that afternoon to do a follow up for my hospital stay. I talk to her about the events and what happened. As soon as I tell her that im going to need a note to return to work shes gives me a weird look. She had never had to do this in her career thus far. Her facility didnt even have a letter head template for such a note. So she hand wrote me a note. I fax the note over to Kay Durbin that same day.

All of the events above happened in ONE day.

The next day I go back to work as if nothing happened. When I walk through the door to clock in I am met by Bill Fullers personal secretay, whom I dont even think the company approved to be in there and was wrote in as a DOCK WORKER, Val. She tells me Bill is on his way in and needs to speak to me. Well I guess I missed Kay Durbin's return call the night before, Bill informs me that Kay can not accept the note I faxed her because it is not from a MEDICAL DOCTOR. Fine. He then sends me home.

I go home and schedule an appointment for a doctors visit. I go to the doctor office a week later, that was the soonest this doctor office could get me in as a new client. I see the Nurse Practitioner that my whole family goes to. She is in the Health Source Ohio practice in Greenfield Ohio. She writes me out an excuse on a script pad piece of paper. This script pad paper had her name on it as well as the practices information and the other doctors within the practice. I fax this over to Kay Durbin and yet again she says she can not accept this either. She further informs me that I need to get a note from the Health Source Ohio medical director. I later found out that this person resides in Mansfield Ohio and doesnt take patients.

Kay Durbin tells me how they cant be sure of this nurse practitioner's credentials. I find all of her credentials online and fax them along with my mediation information,they said they couldnt be sure that I was actually on meds, to her.

To date I have not returned to work, they refuse to take my phone calls and if they do return my call they say what they have to say and hang up on me, and to top all of this off they still havent sent me my w2s and wont return my calls about that Bill Fuller said he would get to when he can...As well they were refusing to give me my last check. I had to sit at the guard shack for an endless amount of time until Bill Fuller met me up at the guard shack to give me my check. I basically had to refuse to move to get this check. The reason why I had to wait at the guard shack was because hey said I wasnt allowed on the premises until the "investigation" was over.

This company has got to be stopped theyve gone to far. They say that I am not fired but I havent heard from them in weeks and it seems that everyone I get in contact with in an effort to get justice says they just cant help.

This isnt all the company has done over the course of this month that ive been out of work. But it is the gist of my situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
