 I live in a large 3 bedroom in Everett Massachusetts. I moved in June of 2016. I immediately opened an electric account with national grid, the local supplier. Electric here is rather cheap from what I am accustomed to in Massachusetts. With 3 in the house total we all split about 70 dollars a month in electric cost. Until Verde Energy. In June 2017 my electric bill jumped from around 70/mo to close to 140/mo . And no no summer air conditioning was run. Verde Energy appeared on my bill charging almost as much as the full national grid bill, in effect just about doubling my bill. I immediately called national grid. They did nothing, told me to contact the supplier. I contacted Verde Energy. I did not initiate a agreement of any sort with this company and told them so. I was told a former roommate contacted them for energy savings and somehow attached their 'service' to my bill. The former roommate's name was on the bill for mail /address verify so he could establish residency in Massachusetts. He had no authorization or ability to make any account changes and I am still the only stated primary on the account. Verde agreed to cancel the account - at no fee. How nice considering I never made an agreement with them in the first place.

July 2017. Verde appears again.. I call national grid furious. Again they can't help me and point me to Verde! I did that! I still paid the bill in full. Contact Verde again. Record the call this time for my own protection and am once again ensured the account is canceled. August. Again. Double bill with Verde claiming half. Call national grid. This time even more furious I told them I will carry the national grid bill. I've paid an unsolicited unwanted, 3rd party twice now but I will no longer pay the Verde energy portion. I don't care take me to court I'm sure any sober logical thinking judge would not validate this. Contact Verde Energy again. I'm apologized to repeatedly by a woman who is going to send me a 50 dollar check on behalf of Verde and hung up on me.!

Today Sept 14 2017 National grid disconnected for a bill amount of 143.84.. The majority of that. Verde Energy which I, without power refuse to pay and find this as an obvious scam.. Upon researching more I've found alot of scams like this including Verde. And a mention of investigating by national grid into Verde on top of numerous complaints of fraud dated September 10, 2016. Last year. Why is national grid still backing this company are they in bed.? Utterly frustrated! Please help! Or take this report as a warning about these types of energy scams. I didn't even enter myself into this agreement with Verde, yet national grid after admitting a problem with the company, still obviously does business with them, enforces their illegitimate charges by shutting your power off when you call numerous times indicating a problem and fraud. And in my case condoned this to member on my account not at all authorized to change our disconnect service.
