This issue deals with the help I received within the customer service department between Verizon and MCI worldcom. In my most recent phone bill I found a strange charge on my bill amounting to $336.22 for calls made to one of those 900 numbers owned by a company based in Florida known as Champions Communication. This charge is especially strange within my household because of the date and time in which this phone call occurred.

This phone call could have been possible if not the fact that my husband and I work together in Manhattan during the work week along the hours of 9AM to 6PM however the phone call was made 3 times on a Tuesday at 2:39PM, then again on 3:05PM and another still at 3:31PM at my home in New Jersey.

Another important fact is that my husband and I are childless and live alone together. I attempted to contact Verizon directly to find some answers. In the beginning the customer service department was very helpful and seemed to sincerely want to help me in resolving this seemingly very simple problem. They instructed me to block the number in case of any future similar happenings and perform a line test in case of faulty wiring of the land lines.

When the results came back the lines tested okay I called Verizon once more to find other options to pursue this case. This is when the merry-go-round circus began. Long story short it took me one week and hours upon hours of phone calls from Verizon to MCI and back again while still having the same problem. Each company claims their company is not at fault and should contact the other company. At one point a representative, a supervisor at that, told me I must pay for these false charges. These illegal practices must be stopped and companies must own up to their mistakes at the same time not taking it out on customers.
