I ordered DSL service for my home with Verizon in Jan, 2011. On 1/18/11 I got an email at work from them telling me my service was activated, but I couldn't get online at home.

After working for two days with Verizon to try to fix the issue with no result, I cancelled my service with them on 1/20/11.

When I was on the phone with a Verizon rep, she told me there would be no charge against my account, because the service never worked, and I cancelled so soon.

But on 2/15/11 and 3/16, Verizon emailed me and claimed I owe them $19.99 in each email. I called them several times, but was always transferred from one department to another, and eventually got disconnected by them.

It also came to my attention on 4/20/11 that Verizon has turned over the incorrect charge to a debt collector called I.C. System. I'm very concerned this will damage my credit rating.
