Verizon Communications FiOS Verizon's deceptive bait-and-switch billing practices Internet
I have been a Verizon customer for 13 years. The cost of service goes up periodically, and when I call Verizon, the price comes down sometimes, after many hours on the phone with Verizon customer service.
Last year I got a "complimentary" upgrade to 25 Mbits of FiOS internet-only service. A month later, my bill went up by $10/month. I was told that the speed, however, would remain at 15 Mbits.
When I called Verizon last week to complain, it took three hours on the phone to get to someone who could help. My $70.99/month 15 Mbit FiOS internet-only bill was reduced to $28/month (Master Order Number: 0C5445813. 6 February 2016). I also got an email notification that a new router was being shipped in connection with the change.
The router arrived, but when I called Verizon, they knew nothing about it. So I asked about the promised billing change. The Verizon customer service supervisor informed me that the $28/month price was only an "estimate." The final cost is going to be $70.99.
Verizon is the only service provider in my area and their price gouging practices reek of fraud.
