Consumers of ANY of Verizon services BEWARE!!!!!!I have had service with GTE for many years prior to the "aquisition" by Ripoff Verizon. Suddenly my service has been disconnected due to an "eronious billing error". Verizon has claimed that we have an outstanding balance from a phone number we never had. Yet, when asked to validate this billing they have no proof, simply , that we owe it!!

Bullshit!!! I assume that if I contacted the CEO of Ripoff Verizon and issued him/her a bill for say, 1.5 million that it would be paid no questions asked, right? No validation just a bill! I dont think so. Point is the large monopolies of this country have skimmed and skammed there way long enough!!! Their mistake, your fault. CRAP!!!If anyone has had simular problems I would love to hear from you.

I'm happy that you enjoy working for AT&T wireless - everyone should take pride in their work. I am a former customer of AT&T Wireless and invite any potential customer to have a look at their pitiful nationwide coverage area- it is located on their website, and is laughable at best.

Bell-Atlantic Take-Over of GTE but

#3UPDATE EX-employee responds

Don't you miss the old GTE? The great Customer Service, intelligent employees who took pride in putting the customer first. The company who won the J. D. Powers award one year for Extinguished Customer Service. I know I sure do. I was a tenured, middle management employee of GTE but after the "merger" things began to change.

After 20 years with the company, I was "involuntarily" separated (I was working in the customer service support arena in a middle management role). I will not bore you with the reason I was involuntarily separated - because the issue here is how service has not been the same because the leadership is different. The former executives, CFO, CEO, etc. sold out GTE employees to Bell-Atlantic.

It killed our stock but they made a "killing". (Get this, current Verizon employees were told there would be no courtesy flushes when using the restroom at any of their locations. Can you believe that rubbish? Now, who is profiting from whom?)

Along with the change in leadership came a change in the way GTE customers were used to doing business. Now, Verizon is being slammed all over this website.

I now work for AT&T Wireless Services and am proud to work for a company who values its customers and employees. Of course, I had to take a job at 1/3 of my former salary but I am working my way up...just as I did before. I am proud to say I work for AT&T Wireless and I was a consumer before becoming an employee.

If a customer opens a wireless account with AWS and the cell coverage is not appropriate to their needs, they simply call and have the service canceled within the 30 day trial period. If our customers do not/cannot use the service, monies are refunded including equipment purchases and/or airtime charges - any company selling wireless service can see if a service has actually been used or not.

I only hope that every consumer out there knows that the most reliable service in the wireless industry today is AT&T Wireless Service.

Thank you for reading this lengthy response. I only hope it helps explain that Verizon is not the same as the old GTE...the leadership has changed.
