I have been being over billed by Verizon for over 3 years. Yes I should have caught this, however, I didn't and that still doesn't make it right. I "bundled" my services through Verizon in Jan 2006. At the time I had to upgrade some of my services to qualify for the bundle discount. So, for this great discount I signed up for things I didn't really need. So, we set out with our three services, land line, DSL, and Directv. Well, in 2008 my husband had me call the phone company to see if I could lower our bill. At the time a man told me that I couldn't drop any services or I wouldn't qualify for the "freedom" bundle. Well today, when talking to Verizon for another reason the girl said, here, let me set you up on the bundle package plan, it will save you $70.00 a month and you have all the services required. I told her, no, we already have that. She said no you don't I will add it.

I was so stunned. $70.00 a month I would save for something I was told I already had, but never did? Well, as you can guess I went into the whole thing about how I had ordered that when I added our satalite TV which was the whole reason I added that service. She was VERY sweet, and said she understood and would find out what happened. Two hours later all the excuses, like last year you paid your bill late so you don't qualify, well, I didn't have it before then, so that doesn't work.

So, then I spoke to the senior rep. She told me I had to have requested the grandfather plan by name at the time, because that is the plan I am now on and they only do it by request. GRANDFATHER plan, that just sounds expensive, I would never ask for that, never heard of it!! I know for sure I was getting the bundle, that is the whole reason I have unlimited long distance, I had to have it to get the bundle. I tell people all the time, no I can't switch carriers, I have the bundle, it saves us a bundle. Maybe I should have checked my bill for the desciption of my bundle, but I did today and I would not have been able to tell the diffrence.

She finally told me to hold and disconnected me. Maybe I am wrong for not noticing for 3 years, but does that make it any diffrent? What if I think they should have noticed? They still over charged me, and signed me up for some weird wrong plan. I am sure they know they made the mistake, I don't for a second believe they think I ordered those services at that time to get on the grandfather plan. They just know I was WAY over charged. Over $2,500.00.

Over charged is over charged, no matter how long. That is why there are audits, one time a company I worked for underpaid me, and about 4 years later I got a check. I didn't know I had been under paid. I don't think they knew. It was a mistake. However, they had money that was rightfully mine, and they returened it. Verizon made a mistake when they didn't set up our account correctly. Why would they want me to over pay? I didn't recieve any extra services, they just recieved extra money. Maybe I would understand if I had accidently been given extra services for a higher price. I recieved the same service at a higher rate than they were charging for it.

Now they won't even take my calls. I filed a complaint with the Utilities Commission. I will next file one with BBB. I will also send a certified letter to Verizon explaining the situation.

Not sure what else, I could put an attorney on retainer for a lot less than they owe me, but I think it is so obvious they own me, I might not need one.

Any sugguestions.

The senior Rep said that even if I was over charged it wouldn't matter because I should have caught it sooner. That's just wrong in my opinion.

After speaking to all these people who said they would not, and could not refund us, I filed a report with the utilities commission. Apparently this is what you have to do to get results with verizon. I got a call 2 days later from a much nicer verizon rep. He did repeat the same things the others did, but I made a stand and said that it was the principal, and he is making no effort to make it right.

The rep then offered to reimburse us for a portion of what I thought I was over charged. He went over the bill and I then realized it was more like 700.00 that we were over billed. He was very kind, they did not reimburse us that entire amount, but I was so happy to talk to someone who was nice and wanted to help.

So, to make a long story short, verizon will remain our carrier, although I do dread needing to ever call them, most of them were rude, difficult, and insulting. This one guy was the exception. So, there are some decent people at verizon.
