Complaint Review: Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless -beware of software! Lehigh Valley, PALehigh Valley Pennsylvania

I acquired a Lucky Goldstar(LG)VX8300 cell phone on contract with Verizon. I purchased a "Music Essentials Kit" to enable downloading my CDs from my PC to the phone's 1 GIG chip.Absolutely NOTHING worked. I had previously used a M** (((ROR REDACTED FOR SECURITY PURPOSES))) Razr V6m Music kit that gave no problems. (Only the crappy phones, two of which turned into MP3 players with a lousy camera...uhhh....the phone function went away)
.
After spending an entire day on the phone with Verizon, I was told MANY times, "call Microsoft. I'ts not our problem". I got absolutely NO help or support from Verizon.
.
After additional investigating, I found that the Verizon Music Essentials Kit for thee LG8300 corrupts the operating system when downloaded. It changes the registry so that the USB ports are, for the most part, useless, and the PC ABSOLUTELY will NOT acknowledge connection of the phone.

Verizon knows this, and [1]Refuses to acknowledge the problem they're causing, and [2]Refuses giving ANY help at all. The correction of the problem Verizon causes is described and a "fix" is offered by Microsoft:
microsoft.com/kb/911091/en-us
.
The procedure outlined by Microsoft is just about beyond the ability of the average PC user. The damaage the Verizon software does to the operating system is far greater than any changes (to the operating system) AOL ever caught hell for. This act by Verizon is one of the most unconscionable issues I've seen for a long time from anyone in any business.
.
As an unrelated side note, I've had two (((ROR REDACTED FOR SECURITY PURPOSES))) V3m Razr phones fail within a 5 week period. The last four M** cell phones I've carried failed. 2-M** V60S, 2 Razr V3m. I find the uncaring, cavalier attitude of Verizon to be comparable to the service I've received from M** phones. Sadly, Verizon's VASTLY superior coverage area keeps me in bed with them. The Lucky Goldstar VX8300 (made in Korea)so far, has outperformed ANY of the 4 "made in China" M** phones I got stuck with. It's what the Razr V3m should grow up to be. (feature, reliability and perforance wise)
.

This will be my last contribution to this chain of entries bringing forth your unmitigated, totally inaccurate response and moronic critique to other posts. You continually expose your ignorance. In spite of your self professed knowledge base of Verizon's programs, you allude to not knowing I was dealing with V Cast material. Quote: Now, the v-cast software was never mentioned in your original post as being the problem. Just WHAT do you think the purpose of the Music Essentials Kit involves, oh great Verizon expert? Its only function is to enable the V Cast storage format. Duuh! And you didn't know that? Oh yeahI forgot. You also stated (with specious ignorance) that ALL software was written by the equipment manufacturer.
.
Your grammar and spelling are as flawed as the content of your misguided, cretinous contributions. Quote: last entry;
Your right, this time of year Try You're. Actually, you got that correct in a previous post. Better have continuing help from whoever has been assisting you.
.
Gawd! Your schedule sounds like that of a school teacher. Ignorance breeds ignorance. Scary! I surely hope that's not the case.
.
In your continuing effort to mouth insults, only stupidity exudes. Your reference to a 1959 Airstream trailer in the vein of an insult is laughable. Actually, any old Airstream in decent shape is now considered a classic and if anything, is ascending in value. You really don't seem to have a grip or knowledge on anything of real substance. OK, Yada yada.the floor is yours. Please demonstrate to everyone YOUR last word in yet another display of idoicy and penned flatulence. Pull some more "facts" out of your....errr....lower torso.

Adolph,

And, before you attempt to "put down" or insult others, you might want to look in the mirror.

Your right, this time of year I have nothing to do except what I want to as I take 3 months off every year, paid. I go back to work around 10-1.

Motorhome? Don't you mean: 1967 F-250 with the 1959 Airstream trailer in tow? You are taking a "brief vacation" to find another place to park your "home". Truck stops work for a while for you to save up for another trailer park.

You need to lose your condescending attitude.

Adolph,

Well, if you're such a genius you shouldn't be on here with your problem! It's funny that I've been with Verizon 6 years and I don't have any problems.

Furthermore, you never indicated your experience level, so I gave basic information. I have been working with computers since the 286 was 6 months old.

Now, the v-cast software was never mentioned in your original post as being the problem. You specifically identified the "music essentials kit" as the item you were having problems with.

Verizon SERVICES use VERIZON software, Verizon PRODUCTS use MANUFACTURERS software. I have a dozen Verizon devices and the software that came with them. NONE of these devices have VERIZON software. EVERY one has manufacturers software.

The problem is on your computer. But don't talk to me like I'm a moron when you are the one who can't figure it out. I have no problems with any of my Verizon products or services, so I guess in this case it is a user malfunction.

ps..I used to sell Verizon products. I know how they work. So save your childish rhetoric for someone else. It's real mature to call names and use foul language. You are my hero.

Not only that, you appear to be given to making inaccurate conclusions about the ability of others!
[1]Quote: (software)"created by the phone and/or accessory manufacturer"..... You couldn't be more incorrect. Motorola loads the software in the instrument, Verizon writes and furnishes it. Motorola has NOTHING to do with Verizon's "V Cast" format. The Razr V3m, in fact, in a "virgin" condition with Motorola untampered software has features that are lost when it becomes a Verizon "V Cast" phone. The entire V Cast format is designed to be a real cash cow for Verizon. Downloads from Verizon:$1.00 or $2.00 per song? $10.00 +/- for games?....but I digress on another issue on which I'm sure you'll disagree....
.
[2]Quote:" AND driver/software should NEVER be downloaded as your system security software such as antivirus, antispyware/adware, firewall programs can corrupt the download. ALWAYS install from disk"....'Ya lost me on that one, pal. That sounds like it was lifted out of a "Computer for Dummies" book. D'oh! There's only a scintilla of legitimacy and truth in the this statement. Reeeeeaaaalll close to pure bull $hit! "Load from disc"? Just where did I say the software originated?
.
[3]Quote:" If you plugged the device into your computer prior to installing the drivers/software AND rebooting your system, you caused the problem, not the software or Verizon.
..."Load the drivers first?"....no $hit, Shurlock. I didn't just fall off the tuurnip truck.
.
The rest of your diatribe isn't even worthy of comment. Sort of as enlightening as "the sun comes up in the East".
.
Let's see now....Steve in Bradenton, FL. Sounds sort of familiar. Seems as if I remember reading similar vapid rhetoric on a number of entries from....errr....now to whom are we alluding?...Oh, I almost forgot..**yawn**...Steve in FL.

Some info for Adolph on "Verizon" software..

Adolph,

First of all, that software you got with your phone is not Verizon's software. It was created by the phone and/or accessory manufacturer, and Verizon puts thier name on the disk. Verizon did not create this software. AND driver/software should NEVER be downloaded as your system security software such as antivirus, antispyware/adware, firewall programs can corrupt the download. ALWAYS install from disk.

Also, just so you know, NEVER plug in a USB device to your computer until AFTER you have installed the drivers/software for the device and have restarted your system.. This will insure it gets completely installed and is in the right path in your registry.

If you plugged the device into your computer prior to installing the drivers/software AND rebooting your system, you caused the problem, not the software or Verizon.

Verizon will just discontinue a manufacturer's product if they have too many customer service issues with it.

Unless you know how to manually edit your registry, I suggest you do a full format/reinstall of your computers factory software, and then get a DISK and install the "verizon" software again AFTER disabling ALL security/firewall/antivirus software.

This should work. Software is tested before being released to the public by the manufacturer and again by Verizon before a product is made available to the public. Most errors are of the user type.
