When I used my 13 month old Treo to place a call, I could not hear from through the earpiece, and I could not be heard through the mouthpiece. I called Verizon Wireless Support and I visited two different retail stores, and I was told that I needed to purchase a new cell phone. The unit comes with a 12 month warranty.

I sent the unit to a web based cell phone repair service, and was told that the phone jack needed to be cleaned. The repair center told me that this is a common problem with Treo cell phones, and that the only way to avoid the problem in the first place is to not use headphone jack and headphones. They cleaned the phone jack, charged me nothing, and then returned my unit. I can not imagine how many replacement cell phones that were sold to consumers unnecessarily.
