I purchased a cell phone from Verizon Wireless to replace the one I had (which was malfunctioning). Although I had carried insurance on the phone, I was told that I would have to "lose" it for it to be covered under the insurance policy, and I would then be paying a $50 deductible anway. So I purchased the ne wphone which cost me $211.99.

Three weeks later, a small piece on the battery broke off, causing the battery to fall off of the phone and onto the wet street as I removed it from my purse. I took the phone to a Verizon Wireless Center where I was told that the phone had gotten wet and was therefore not covered. They did note that the piece holding the battery to the phone was missing.

I pointed out that the battery would not have gotten wet if the piece had not fallen off of the phone causing the battery to drop off. We went around and around in circles. They flat out refused to fix or replace the phone, making me buy at $40 battery instead. I was basically told I was lying and that the whole phone had been dropped, pointing out a mark on the phone.

If the phone was dropped, it was prior to my owning it and I resent the implication that I am lying. I have never dropped the phone and a three-week old $200 phone should be covered by them.
