Along with others, I was hired as a Telesales Consultant to sell to incoming calls, mostly in the southern region but some calls overflow from other areas of the US. During the laughable 4 week, unorganized training session, we were all told the first day would be 9-5 and then 10-7 afterward, so everyone (with lives outside of work such as children and daycare) made arrangements for this to find our on day #1 that the schedule during training would be 9-5 until further notice...!.... Little bitty things like this piled up each day class progressed.

The systems training which is our bread and butter allowing sales reps to navigate through and make sales quickly and efficiently was haphazardly conducted by some IT wanna be guy who must be related to one of the associate directors or something(I cant verify that). One of the reps was cheated out of the shift bid process unfairly and another rep didnt get paid for 4 and a half weeks after we were told we would receive a paycheck the very first week (from the HR head lady).

After our "training" which we were encouraged to just click through the web based portions to complete them (nevermind) learning the material, we were on the floor. We'll the supervisors had had 4 weeks to prepare for us and didn't even have our desks ready. We are strongly encouraged to log into our computers and get everything up and running, ready to take calls PRIOR to Logging into the Time clock. Does that violate labor laws?

Anyway, I have been a very unhappy employee since 01/05/09 having accepted the position with high hopes only to be shattered by this bait and switch tactic. They are just like everyone else out there in the corporate world. They seem to want the turnover as it may actually save them money. They have the most backwards systems and audit system working against each other it is amazing that they are staying profitable. Somebody somewhere is giving very poor advice and it is definitely costing this otherwise wonderful company millions of dollars. These guys are making money - no doubt - but at the expense of the employees, themselves, our families, but most of all - the customer! There is a hard core philosophic fundamental logic that is being lost forever in the translation from Top to Bottom a Verizon Wireless, and they will end up like all of the other failed Mega Corps in due time. Stop cheating your employees and stop cheating your customers. Do the right thing because it is the right thing to do. My career at Verizon Wireless will unfortunately be short-lived.

In this economy, you have the audacity to complain about having a job. Be grateful because there are thousands who wouldnt mind taking your spot. Even if the pay is not that good, I'm sure it's enough to pay everyday expenses. You're mad about the hours now, well what about if you don't have any hours at all and living off of unemployment. All you have to do is sit on your butt and talk to people about cell phones all day. As an employee, I can admit that it gets stressful sometimes but I'd rather be doing this than nothing. Verizon is not all that bad (especially after my STI yearly bonus I got on Friday).
